Has anyone used one of these?
I decided it was time to stop smoking. 23 hours in and I miss my fidget fix of actually having a smoke.
I've not been particularly enjoying it, the time is right for me to try and stop and I'm doing the lozenge thing when I feel the urge but I miss the act of having a cigarette. I'm thinking the psychological habit would be solved by an electronic ciggie, one of the girls at work has one and she seems to like it.
Any recommendations as to which one? I'm a minty menthol smoker (or I was!) so really looking for a menthol option.
Help!

"
The guy in question used large quantities of it.....
Im guessing he was heavy smoker...and the E-Cig is not that great for heavy smokers...
I found that I didnt need to smoke one like a real cigarette, I only had to take one draw on it now and then to kill the craving...
If in doubt...seek docs advice x |

docs can put you on champix which is quite a remarakable drug
although i still smoke yeah im a deviant stopped me dead for 3 months and my own stupidity and need for cancer went back
but champix within 7 days totally disgusts the taste of cigs and need or want for them - evaporates that craving even the need for ehhh ahem soemthing in your mouth or hands
doesnt work for everyone - lol check the web and see the tale of the wifey in greenock who hung herself when on champix!!!!! so hmmmm but ....
the other thing the weekly session do is get you to blow inot a CO monitor showing the carbon monoxide in yoru lungs - that alone is scary enough to keep you going
myself though not yet intend to go to the old fashioned stop dead
and after one week of not smoking take your money - what 7 quid ish a pack now almost - so sit and set light to 35 pounds of her majesties notes
and that helps too slam the perspective
but that comes from a smoker so pish advice perhaps

I would recommend Champix...
Tried it myself, I failed, but not because it wasnt working...
IF you suffer any bouts of depression..DONT take it, but it def works if your ok with that x

Ive never smoked and I dont understand the craving or the difficulty in giving up but responded to the call for info.
I feel for those who genuinely want to stop and encourage friends who are, but still despair at those who take it up in the first place in this day and age knowing the implications.
I wish there was something else for our children to use to try to make themselves feel/look more grown up to get into pubs underage Whats wrong with a trilby and a nice waistcoat? |

I don't think I want to smoke it like a real ciggie... it's all in my head. I just need something to sort out the physical issue.
And I've had a right sore head all day! I'm going to bed before I hit 24 hours and attempt to stop thinking about it!
Why is it when you can't have something you just think about it all the more?! |

My son in law gave up in a week sucking the lozenges. Try those perhaps? If you need to do something with your mouth keep vegetable crudites to hand as lots of people say they gain weight eating sweeties etc and this might put you off your goal. Good luck I hope you succeed xxxx |

danger with champix is its a simple drug
it simply blocks the rush from nicotine - bearing in mind nicotine is theeeeee most powerful drug on the planet - passes the blood brain barrier in under 7 seconds and thats faster than an intravenous injection of any drug which is quite something
also nicotine unlike any other drug locks physical dependancy immediately!
annnnnnnnd cigarettes have up to 4000 additional chemicals - annnnnnnnd to this day - try if ya want - the public have noooooooo right to know what they are
kinda explains really why its legal
but with champix - it simply blocks the crave and the brains ahhhhhh nicotine response - giving you nothing from it - the danger of being depressed etc is that like any drug is not that clever and blocks other responses
so you could even think aaa that cock is rubbish cant be bothered - lets watch the footy
but it lets you smoke and have no interest either way - once it wears off - then the nicotine kicks and locks back in so you can still think yeaaaah you can have just one now n then
then its 2
and 4
and 8
and ooooo its 20 a day again
so works well with a good no more never again attitude |

Great thing about Champix, being allowed to smoke for the first 2 weeks....and as anyone who has tried it will tell you....it puts you right off smoking lol
Not allowed to smoke after 2 weeks....for the next 14 weeks!!
IF you have a smoke after your 14 week course (and no, its not because the cravings are back, you are way past that stage now)....hell, its your own fault you are now a smoker again lol |

I don't really want to do the drugs thing... I'm thinking it's mind over matter. I've done it before cold turkey, I've done hypnotherapy and I've done patches. All of which worked. Until I decided that I could be a social smoker. I like smoking. Well I liked it. Lately it's not doing much for me at all and even today, the smell of other people's ciggies has made me feel a bit queasy. I had a moment when I got home from work but I'm over it.
I got some of the lozenges today cause one of the girls at work gave me one at lunchtime and it sort of helped, although I don't really like the fuzzy texture of it but I'm persevering. I can do this!
Mind over matter, mind over matter, mind over matter!

tis exactly how champix works foe
it puts you from a smoker into that hmmm now n then fekcer that pinches your fags at nights out but doesnt smoke!
club em to death!
but thats the danger that time of freedom and my god you so notice the money difference right away - so all that adds to the danger
night out - few beers - yeah ill have a smoke - i dont like it now - but champix protects me
then champix goes
and you have another and another
and woooooosh your back again
so its a good kick off tool for the determined
and you got two whole boobs of your own so you can keep your hands busy surely
just wander the pub saying no thanks i dont smoke i squeeze my boobers

"Do you think it's optimistic changing my profile to non-smoker?! "
tis positive
even use the old hindu mantra technique - everyday we ritual - we bathe or perfor some private act alone
adopt the mantra - i do not smoke i will not smoke into that routine and let it soak into the sub conscious
tell yourself everyday your happier and better because you dont smoke |

also
Allen Carr - Easy way to stop smoking
short simple book - guy from my work stopped dead after reading that - fair enough he was motivated by his dads cancer death yeah
but its a great book
shows you the myths - we dont like smoking - we dont enjoy it - we just habit it - written by a smoker - and presented in a great break down of the ins and outs that any smoker can relate with
thieve it off the web its out there
and a handy read while your quitting
