I've had an inkling of one or two on here who enjoy the metal side of music, but I'm curious just how many of us there are here. Anyone care to the raise the horns of identification?

Led Zep... I'd like to suggest a band for you to have a listen to. They're usually instrumental, although the odd song has lyrics. It's similar to Led Zep in that it's rhythm-orientated. Karma to Burn is their name:

Tbh I'm really not sure what constitutes metal as such, cut my teeth on Iron Maiden, the first band I ever saw live, Ozzy, Alice Cooper etc.

These days I'd list among my favourites Muse, Fall out boy, The vaccines, Imagine Dragons, and Bastille and Metallica. All of which I've been lucky enough to see in the last year or so.

And completely from the other side of the spectrum, totally obsessed with Chvrches these days as well.

More old school (NWOBH, Hard Rock, Glam/Sleaze and some crossover stuff)

Never got the whole Nu-Metal/2nd Wave Rap Metal thing (it killed the scene and segregated it in multiple ways),

And whoever said that Def Leppard was embarrassing needs to be shot. They may have been a bit more "Poppy" than most - but they're still filling arenas opposed to half of the bands out there milking it.

There is only one band that drives me insane and that's Babymetal. Why?

"Spent my youth(mis-spent?) Going to metal gigs but too much spandex and cliched solos put me off and by the early 80's turned to the more indie american bands like Husker du,black flag, sonic youth. But still retain love for Motorhead and always will

I like a lot of those, Husker Du are fucking awesome, love Bib Mould. Sonic youth are pretty much the only band I've never seen that I could have and really regret not going

I'm not massively in to metal but a lot of bands in that sort of indie crossover genre like Jane's Addiction, Faith no More, Rage agains the machine I absolutely love.

Saw SY a couple of times, and bob mould both lived up to expectations, and then some!

Only tine I saw Bob Mould was with Sugar in a tiny club in Brum and fuck me they were loud!"

The heaviest i can listen too is metallica black album - my favourite song is from that album too "my friend of misery" hairs still stand up on the back of me neck when that bassline starts ??

so many flavours of metal and rock can't stand grunge, thrash, death, black metal, thrash death grunge metal or any of that poncy modern disco dance metal. Trad old school stuff, power metal, symphonic, and any other bits in between that don't involve unintelligible vocals, guitars that only have one chord or sounds like disco music
