Best gig you've ever been to?
Jump to: Newest in thread
My best gig, onstage outside the Hofburg in Vienna.
Was dragged back onstage for an encore. Didn't have a backup so improvised this
http://youtu.be/fqMFIfP4QWQ
I learnt that I shouldn't jump up and down and try to sing at the same time. Look like a bouncing egg.
As a punter, Stevie Wonder in Hyde Park last month. So very very good |

Pantera far beyond driven tour, 1994, had to go all the way to Manchester because it was the nearest place they were playing to were I lived at the time
22 years on and I've been to a hell of a lot of gigs but it's still the one that stands out the most |

One of my least favourite albums by them but would have like to see them live. Was that supporting Machine Head? |

It was an age thing would have been to young to go to any previous tours
And no it was the far beyond driven tour so they wasn't supporting anybody |

"Probably Sikth
Good band "
It was the fact that they pulled off such a difficult style of music so well. Was amazing!
At The Gates doing their (not so) farewell tour headliner at Bloodstock 2008 was a close second. |

Way way too many to pick 1, but up there are Patti Smith in Edinburgh,Wyclef in Amsterdam,Motorhead in Aylesbury, sisters of mercy at the Albert Hall. All very different, all memorable in their own way. Having seen acts as diverse as hugh masekala and King Kurt its hard to pin down. |

TesseracT. They were absolutely spot on with their performance. Usually I hesitate to see a band live when they play complicated music, as I get rather attached to how they sound studio-wise. but they nailed it. Hopefully I'll get to see them again in the future.
The light show was amazing, too. Whoever set up that knew what they were doing! |

Been to loads over the years, but my top 3 would probably be:-
Stevie Ray Vaughan at Manchester Apollo in '88
Jean Michel Jarre at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona in '93
Led Zeppelin at Knebworth in '79 |

"Got a few friends at Reading Festival this weekend, wish I was there.
In my top three has to be Prince : Nude Tour in 1990. He was brilliant live. "
Saw it somewhere in Europe and he was pants!!!
Almost two hours late on stage, played about 5 songs and left with band trying to figure out what to do
Support act was awesome, a Belgian blues type band, and I never liked him again |

Prodigy - Newcastle - 1997.
First time I was at a gig by myself, brilliant music and live experience. Great laugh. Saw some boobies and my mate vomited all over a security guard. |

Iron Maiden were the first (I think) big band that I saw live on the powerslave tour in the early eighties. They left a significant impression. Saw them again at download in 13....OK, but a bit tired?

not been to many but way way way back into the 70s i saw Abba - to say i was a massive fan back then was an understatement - i can remember the buzz i got to this day - so for that reason it was the best -
more recent was jessie ware at manchster cathedral - pretty damn good |

in the eye of the storm |
Guns n roses Wembley stadium 1991
Never heard a crowd scream so loud at a concert then or now to the opening bars of the first song like they did at that show .
night train was the opening song i had to put my hands over my ears for a few seconds the roar from the crowd was that deafening .
Great show from a band at the peak of there powers |

The time I saw Mick Jones of the Clash, Wayne Kramer of MC5, Billy Bragg and one of the Foo Fighters covering Clash and MC5 songs in a pub in Camden was pretty special.
But I've seen hundreds of gigs over the last 30 years so chosing the best one is pretty much impossible |

1986: Queen, Knebworth - Final date on the Magic Tour. 6 years old and I could barely see anything - but the electricity has stuck with me to this day.
The only other gig that really blew me away (and don't laugh) was Erasure - 2007 at Wolves Civic Hall. The vibe in that room was amazing! |

Muse at the Etihad Stadium, I get free tickets off tickets for troops so couldn't complain about the crap seats, but the gig was awesome! Bastille supported along with Dizzie Rascal (who was utter pish in my opinion). |
