Had a brew made for me today, had to watch as they put the milk first, Stood biting my tongue in horror as they then poured hot water over a milky teabag. Just wrong!

Even in places like Costa I've seen them whack the milk in immediately after the water - nightmare!!  |

"Teabag milk hot water...stops the dust floating on top. When its my turn to make tea colleagues at work say its wrong to put milk first but then say its a great cup of tea"
Yep, this for me too. Nobody has ever complained about the tea I've made, with milk in first. |

Scientific research has been done on this. Most people who think they prefer the milk put in last are wrong. Given a blind taste test, they prefer it when the milk goes in first; when they think they know which cup had the milk put in last they go for that one, even when they're wrong. Their expectations override what their taste buds are telling them.
If you put the milk in last, it warms up too quickly. This damages enzymes in the milk and turns it slightly sour. If you put the milk in first then add the hot water, the milk warms up a little more slowly, the enzymes aren't damaged and the milk isn't soured. |

Milk in tea? I don't care which way round someone does it...milk just doesn't belong in there..turns it into piss water |
