Is it lazy to send a wink?

I think winks are lazy if your interested in that person send a message, i find women respond to message more than a wink,

A message means more, I don't look at winks on the whole.

I want to see a face pic and those who wink often don't have a face pic on their profile so it's pointless them having winked at me.

I think Winks are under rated, for me they could be used as a precursor to a message. As in "would you be interested in receiving a message from me"? Or "I would be interested in a message from you". As a single guy that tries to come up with a good unique message for those that I send messages to, it would be helpful to know that those I send them to are at least happy to recieve one.
