When I was little I wanted to be an astronaut. Then aspired to be a journalist like Kate Adie.
I did neither. Just bounce from career to career. Who knows what's next? |

When I was really young I wanted to be a vet for marine animals (each of my friends were going to be a vet that dealt with different types of animals).
Then I got a bit older, around age 10, and decided I'd be the first woman President. I was humble. |

Very little; a fairy princess ballerina and then when slightly bigger, Kate Adie also. Somehow I initially ended up as an officer in the Navy!
I think what I want to be now is a historian; move over Suzzanah Libscome, budge up Lucy Worsley, be gone Simon Schama, Dan Snow you can, actually you're rather pleasing, you can stay! |

I think the first thing I wanted to do was become an architect. I was 7. Looked into it.
What put me off was that I'd need 7 year's study of mathematics, which seemed like an impossibly long time, at the time.

"I actually wanted to be an artist,i got accepted into art school but changed my mind at the last minute"
I always intended to go to vet school, but went into rebellion and went to art school instead! |

"I wanted to be SuperTed. That dream didn't come true.
Other than that, I've just always wanted to be a writer, there's still time. "
I was SuperTed for a while...
I'm sure there are plenty of photos gathering dust in albums from the 80's of children sat on 'SuperTeds' knee but my eyes are looking out of the eye holes
I was also big bird, as I was the only person tall enough for the costume |

I'm confused!
The answer to the OP question is yes I have achieved what I wanted in some respects. Always tends to be not in the time frames I wanted. I now want different so I shall aspire to it. I also wanted to be a millionaire by 40. Haven't achieved it yet but not far off. I have a plan. A cunning plan. |

I wanted to be an air hostess, even studied languages at school, but to my horror I got too tall. Became a receptionist instead which led to several other jobs until I finally found my passion was in numbers and now I work in finance. Not all accountants are boring |

The first thing I remember wanting to be was a vet. However, I'm incredibly fickle and between the ages of 9 and 19 I wanted to be:
A singer
An artist
A guitarist in a band
A vampire slayer
A microbiologist
A publisher
An historian
An archaeologist
A lecturer in gender studies
A curate of historic properties.
And no, I didn't become any of them

I don't think I really knew what I wanted to do when I was growing up. I kind of fell into what I do now 18 years ago. My flexible attitude and willingness to learn new things have meant that I've been able to work in many different industries all round the world. I always think that if I wanted to be "something in particular" when I was younger I might not have had the experiences I've had. |

I wanted to join the RAF. Failed the entry level maths. Went on to work as a legal secretary for 17 years, the last years of which were for a large multi-national law firm, before I had my first child.
Was made redundant. Now in a different line of work but it's easier to fit in around my children.

Wanted to work is hospitality with a _iew to owning my own hotel one day....didn't pan out that way, although given the way my family treat this house sometimes perhaps I didn't fall too short of that aspiration after all! |

For years and years I wanted to be a firefighter,,,applied several times but there's a lot of competition.
Last time,I was in my early thirties,I passed loads of fitness tests and then failed on eyesight so wasn't able to go on to,,,,
The next test was the one where they put you on a turntable ladder and spin you around and around and up and down,,,if you scream or vomit, you've failed,,,I was never guaranteed to pass that one.
After that was the claustrophobia test,,,I think that would have ed me out.Probably a mercy to have failed the eyesight test. |

"An explorer / archaeologist and in my head I am when I wander and explore with pooch "
Oooh ooh, excited Heels moment (apologies for geek out), one of my ancestors was an inventor and an explorer - we have a zebra named after our family. There's a stuffed one in the Natural History Museum. He also invented lots of dull yet practical stuff, failed to get a patent onany of it and disappeared into obscurity (unless you're into zebras). |

I wanted to be loads of things as a kid. Criminal pathologist, barrister, writer, composer, teacher, librarian. I ended up doing something that's tangentially related to a couple of those. I love my job. |
