Has anyone claimed on insurance before ?
My excess is £150 I went away and my freezer and fridge went off and defrosted all over the kitchen floor , all food is ruined .
Waiting for a call back but is it worth it to claim as excess so high ??!!

"If you need a new fridge and freezer then probably worth claiming. If it's just the food I personally wouldn't bother. "
Apparently that's not covered ... God knows how or why |

That would be because it is rare for household insurance to include the replacement cost of a domestic appliance. As appliances have a limited lifespan, any such policy would cost a fortune. |

i am going to assume that you don't have carpet on the kitchen floor... lol so as long as the water hasn't "leaked" anywhere else...and the electrics are all okay.... and the fridgefreezer works...
then no... as excess is going to be higher than the damage....and then your insurance would likely go up because you made a claim... |

Yes it's tiled so just a mess to clean , keeps leaking it's disgusting .
Thought it might go up yes , so probs just not worth even bothering .

They said my freezer may be covered so may be worth it , and also said I don't have to pay the excess they take it off the amount they are giving me for the food cover |

I claimed once on my freezer, id gone away and not closed the door properly and it was christmas time and my joints of meat and that where in there. But it must of been before the days you had to pay excess. I remember them just wanting a list and value noone ever came out or anything.
But unless youve git £100s of pounds worth in there i wouldnt bother |

Unless you have well over 150 quids worth of food in it then it isn't worth claiming as you then have to declare you have made a claim when you renew.
I wouldn't expect them to pay for the freezer itself though...unless you have breakdown cover for appliances. |

blame the fraudulent claimers
then blame the companies for their excess hike to cover the fraudulent claims that drive the excess up and that encourages more fraudulent claims.
