"The Dragon Tatoo is a great film.
Subtitled and all the more real for not having glitzy hollywood style, directing or conventionally beautiful actors. "
Agreed! Wont be watching the new American version.... |

read the book first...and it was a very good read, i would recommend it....
i was then surprised by how good the film was...
whether this was as granny stated, that it was subtitled and no known actors (that i know of) in it, but never the less, both highly enjoyable |

I've read the 3 books. Thought they were really good. It took me a little while to get into them, because they arn't the usual style I read. But once I did!!!
I've seen the first film, thought it was good, not as good as the book, but as a film in its own right, very well done, and acted, as someone said above, made better for being fairly unconventional in the direction and actors.
Will not be watching the bastardized version, sorry American version when it is released. |

I read the books first and loved them.
I saw the films as they came out... went to the cinema on my own and I thought they were brilliant. I loved that they were subtitled and without all the hype.
I'll probably watch the American versions out of curiosity more than anything else. |

the series is completely different, in a way like X files.
The millenium refered to at the start of the thread is good to watch as a film And fantastic to read.
Where to find Lisbeth? She is great.
Unfortunately hollywood is rumoured to remake the film, oh no.

Loved both the movies and books for the series for totally different reasons.
Movies and books are two different things, comparisons aren't really fair. Books take place in your head, movies on screen. We also tend to be more attatched to books as they're more invasive, we see it the way we want to see it and that's rarely how it looks on screen.
The adaptation of Watchmen was awesome though!

Watchmen was great, but when I read the graphic novel for the first time, wow, there was nothing like it.
But you are correct in saying books get right inside your head, best one provoke thoughts. |

its hard if you like the book to enjoy the film as much i think.
i love the russian nightwatch films but when read the books the 2 films so far take parts of all 3 books to do it but then leave enough to have a 3rd film however the film story bounces arounds the books in odd orders but will have the 3 books when complete lol |

Been thinking of when you get book adaptations of movies - yet to hear someone say “The Iron Man 2 novel just didn’t have the same flair as the movie”.
I really like adaptations that take things in new directions, like The Dark Knight which was not an adaptation of one specific graphic novel but lots of threads , stories and concepts. Same with movie remakes. I liked the Rob Zombie Halloween movies because they were so different, but the US remakes of J-Horror films just seems kinda racist, it’s the exact same movie but just with white people…
Oh and my tattoo has tattoos. No dragons though.
