Bolt's done it. The triple triple is his. It was really close there for a while.

Japan did really well too.

Now I can go to bed with a big smile on my face.

Lets get back to seeing how Donald trump is making an ass of himself in what seems to be the longest election campaign process known to man!

There are tonnes of news outlets you could be watching.

Some people really don't get the whole point of the Olympics and the spirt of the games.

Bringing people together, to celebrate sport.

But it's far deeper than that. Just as war is everything that is bad about humanity.

The Olympics is everything that's good.

Dedication, perseverance, excellence, battling against the odds.

I could go on.

It's once every four years can't people just enjoy it? Once it's over there will be plenty of miserable shit to Wang on about.

Be excellent to each other xxxxx

It looks like they are querying the position the 4th runner was in for the lander. Officials place them based on the position of the 3rd runner the their 200m point, we were 1st and lane 1 so looks like it could be an error on part of the official, waiting on further news, our boys have appealed.

This is going to be one of those "hand if God" type stories from these Games.

The BBC re-ran the footage several times but it seems to be an interpretation of one particular rule.

Couldn't agree more, it's been awesome. 2nd highest medalists (so far) more mdeals in more sports than any other country.

Makes me proud to be British.

If you think being a 'proud brit' or a 'nationalist' means being a right wing faschist skinhead, then take a look at the cultural diversity of team GB.

How are they unemployed if they're athletes who are paid to be athletes? That's their job, being an athlete, which they get paid for.

You don't pay for it singlehandedly. There are still lots of BBC outlets not covering the Olympics. For the rest of us who also pay I think most of us feel we're getting good value for money having the Olympics broadcasts.

If you insist the athletes are unemployed then think of it as job creation scheme or them as ambassadors.

Hopefully he will be back in Tokyo and mentally stronger. There will be some who will want to have a dig, but he is an immensely talented athlete who will have trained for hours to do his best. It went wrong today as it can easily do, but I hope he bounces back and proves the doubters wrong.

Hopefully he will be back in Tokyo and mentally stronger. There will be some who will want to have a dig, but he is an immensely talented athlete who will have trained for hours to do his best. It went wrong today as it can easily do, but I hope he bounces back and proves the doubters wrong."

I hope the press won't be too awful. Laugher and Mears are now the new golden boys of British diving.

He showed in yesterday's round, best of 28, that he can do it bloody well. It's a large amount of pressure on him, and his 1st dive just seemed to put him off his stride. The last dive he needed 102 to go through. That's a huge score, under pressure? He buckled. Poor lad must be gutted.

It's confusing that the Mexican is called German Sanchez, but he's looking good to win.

This hasn't been as strong as the preliminary round last night.

I think the preliminary round yesterday, then this afternoon, then the final this evening, they're knackered. Yes they're used to training daily, but the pressure of competing in such a major event with so many eyes on them must be immense.

Two points. After Britain retained tae kwan do title im sure that will give that sport a boost with many taking it up and lottery getting a good return for its funding. My criticism, I knowvitvinvolves a lot of hard work and training but is olympic tae Kwan do a proper martial art? Is it totally different to traditional TKD? All they do is high kicks to the head with no punching blocking grappling! That is not a 'proper' martial art and one dimensional. Of all the martial arts why did that get in before karate kick boxing jiu jitsu MMA?

Also the women's kit it would appear some female track runners wear less ir similar to beach volleyball. Are they in a competition to wear less? Does it make them perform better or look better?

You're right there's many, Vardy was probably a contender in May but unless he fires Leicester to the top by Xmas he won't have the momentum (doesnt deserve it imo anyways) then there's the gymnast who's name escapes me and Brownlee too who both should be in with a shout. I'd love for Frampton to get one more top levelfl win in this year but I suspect he still wouldn't win it even if it was against Rigo.

Disagree with that. It's not duration of bouts. I have to ask can olympic tkd be described as a 'martial art'? It is not the same as traditional tkd that incs grappling punching blocking etc. Just doing high kicks is showboating. Martial arts is about using body as a weapon utilising all limbs. I have heard others sneer at it as not being a real art or the easiest to get black belt. I though it was rivalry between martial artists, but I can see their point

Yes it is in the Olympics but a joke decision only to boost tv ratings like tennis, football, basketball and others u can't recall now.

Soirts with own internstional tournaments and events shouldn't be in olympics. I didn't hear golfers or their ruling bodies complain about not being in olympics. It's all about tv ratings. Sports like netball squash should be in.

Final point about tennis. As a matter if principle the IOC should not allow it unless they change its stupid sexist rules which goes against olympic ethos. In every olympic event track and field especially men and women compete under same rules and time duration distance etc. I.E. marathon runners, sprinters, football swimmers etc. They abolished sexist rules banning women: triple jump, weightlifting, boxing. Why the hell in tennus do women still play 3 sets and men 5 sets? It's a joke some women are as fit ir fitter than the men. I've seen the Williams sisters and other top players in workout. Women do marathon and cycling the same distance as men

I agree with the sports who have their own global competitions I'd like football to be replaced by one of either 5 a side, futsal or beach soccer, but just to add the men's tennis was only 5 sets in the final it was 3 sets throughout.

so... 16 days almost up.... andjust a few things left to wrap up this afternoon...

one more medal coming in the boxing, the US will likely win the mens basketball... if you get a chance watch the mens handball final this afternoon/evening... it should be fun....

one quirky track and field fact which will likely annoy katrina johnson-thompson because she was given the chance and turned it down....

her high jump in the heptathlon (1.98) would have won her the olympic title... ruth bathia won it last night with 1.97....

her high jump in the heptathlon (1.98) would have won her the olympic title... ruth bathia won it last night with 1.97...."

She also jumped higher than most of the decathletes

yep... i think to be honest they may sit down with her and have the "daphne schippers" conversation about just concentrating on one/two events rather than 7...

she can be a world class long jumper...she is a world class high jumper

anyway if you are watching bbc1 now they are going to have a caster seymenia convo with i think is really tactfully done....

A really interesting and respectful discussion and the great Michael Johnson always talks sense.

On a different point.

Spoty is going to be a flipping nightmare to pick.

"Two points.

Does it make them perform better or look better?"

Most TKD practiced in this country it the ITF version, and they do tend to sneer a bit at the WTF "sports taekwondo" which we see at the Olympics. In either code, TKD is much more geared to high kicks than other martial arts, but both punching and grappling are allowed but don't score highly so are less used.

I saw that last night.

I'm finishing off with the Rhythmic Gymnasts and I'll watch the beginning of the closing ceremony.

What a result for Callum Hawkins in the marathon for GB. Didn't get a medal, but to finish 9th in your first Olympics in that field is impressive. He is the best marathon runner GB(Mo Farah's one complete marathon apart) has had for over 20 years.

Indeed, I think had he not pushed as hard as he did in the first half of the race, sat in the pack he would have been in a real chance of top 5.

That's taking nothing away from his achievement.

To do what he did was brilliant.

Chapeau sir.

Joyce should be very proud, fantastic effort. The boos of the crowd at the result were telling.
