Do you give it freely or are you a difficult bleeder?

Ive had a nightmare of a day today and it wasnt aided by the fact i was not allowed to drink water

They had to get 4 samples in total at set times and i ended up with 13 puncture wounds and they gave up after the 3rd sample and sent me on my way.. not gonna lie it hurts a bit now lol

It's much more difficult to do when someone is dehydrated. Was the reason for no water because of the tests?

The one time I went to give blood (not knowing anything and just turning up) five years ago, I had a tattoo not that long ago and they said I had to wait a year, I never went back more so because when I do have to have bloody tests it's like getting blood out a stone.

Maybe I will do it this year like I've been meaning too since I became an adult

yes, the labs specified no water as it was an absorption test. By the time i was released an allowed water/food i was at the 16 hour without water..

i was very grumpy at that point

i have just one place where i know that they will get blood easily....i have had nurses try conventional midle of the inner elbow and then wiggle the needle about but now i know the outer edge of my right arm is the sweet spot!

i can feel where the vein is and point them to it

I pass out when needles come out. Once I'm out they can take what they want!

I don't give up my blood that easily. My last experience left me looking like I had Dumbledores withered arm. I was donating white blood cells though. It only took 15 minutes and 6 attempts to find a vein #win

ive always thought my right arm was better but today there was nothing.. didnt even attempt with a butterfly.

10 puncture wounds including the failed Canula attempt into the inner left arm and the failed 3 attempts between the knuckles of my left hand..

They contacted the vascular (something) team... apparently they use ultra sound to locate veins ... but they werent available today

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I can't donate blood but I have a monthly blood test. I know the sweet spot and I can more or less tell what the result will be (for one particular test) by how freely it flows.

Yep, I get that too.

I like to check what colour it is too.

Is it because of all the unprotected anal sex?

A van comes to my place of work to take blood and I love quizzing my colleagues who don't participate.

I'm not allowed to donate blood due to the rule about donating if you yourself had a transfusion after the CJD scare years back. I only managed to donate three times before they changed the rules and I always feel a bit guilty that I can't, even though it's no fault of my own.

As for being a good bleeder, I generally have a couple of fantastic veins but they took a battering during a recent hospital stay so hopefully they aren't fucked for good! My sister had cancer as a kid and the combined effects of treatment mean she has terrible veins, often ends up with cannulas in her feet etc

Haven't given blood in years, I was an easy bleeder.

I used to panic them as I always turned up on the motorcycle, they wouldn't let me go till I had a rest.

I really should come up with a more interesting story about why I can't give blood.

My bone marrow makes too many red blood cells so I have to have a venesection (I call it a vampire session ) every other month.

Wouldn't be too bad, but my blood is useless to anyone else and just gets incinerated

I can't give blood either due to having epilepsy and being on medication to control it.

I got told I can't donate because of my tricky veins. They only use a certain size needle and have a short window of time so even though I am willing, They are unable
