Hermes says I have signed, but I was in work?

You lot always seem to have an answer to most things, has similar happened to you?

In eBay there's a tracking number to said Hermes, and now it says 'customer signed for, Monday 15-08-16 8:53'.

Now, as it happens, Monday morning I had an early morning meeting with a senior manager at 8:00 in Knutsford, meeting ended 08:55!!!

The only other living being in my flat is the Parrot himself. And he doesn't have a key.

There are 32 flats in the building, secured with an intercom.

One guess is, that someone else fraudulently signed? So this is my question, what happens next? Does seller have to proceed from here? Do Hermes? Is it something silly and time-wasting like involving the Police, or the Small Courts Claims, or what?

All that was delivered was just a special wood perch for above mentioned parrot himself. So I think that perhaps I could put an "amnesty" note up about if someone has signed by mistake please just leave the perch somewhere in the communal area, what use are they going to make of if anyway? What do you guys reckon?

The value is around £25 pounds (he's spoilt rotten!), but I wouldn't buy same product from same seller again, would rather retrieve what's gone missing.

Request the hard copy of the POD and dispute the signature.

Id put the note up, ive signed for and opened stuff for next door by mistake. If the person signed for it and they dont know its for you they probably dont know what to do with it

Ask them to prove it was your signature?

And point out that you can prove you were at work!

That's a very valid point, Diamond, I'll put a note up now!

Okay, TR, I suppose that would be a fair solution! Might make them wake up and listen! Thanks!

Our delivery driver just leaves our by the dustbin sometimes, she does leave a card though. Maybe the tracking no is wrong or the courier signed it themselves and left it somewhere and it got nabbed. Try getting hold of Hermes and asking them to ring the courier who delivered it.

I paid for an item which was tracked to my sorting office who on 3 occasions couldn't find it.

I contacted the seller to make sure that it had been posted and she said it was now marked uncollected and was being returned to her.

Sender never received it and I was out of pocket but, because she had proof of posting I couldn't claim. It's a strange postage world out there.

Yes, I'll give it all a go, Hermes and seller.

Ring the company you ordered from, (hermes will say they cant deal with you has to go through the company). They will ask you to check all possible safe places, then tell you to wait a few days see if it turns up no doubt, before sending another item out.

Dispute the signature with Hermes. You'll probably find someone signed for it but the Hermes agent should know the number that signed for it and left you a note saying so.

If saying someone's signed for it yet not notified you of the address then I'd be suspect of the local agent.

If I know someone going to be sending me something via Hermes I usually offer to pay for RMail or other couriers I hold in higher in trust.

Your contract is via the sales component, so I'd dispute the sale as not delivered. They can then involve the courier etc. I'd probably confirm to Hermes that you've not received it nor was anyone in at the time - in writing as phone calls often don't get logged.

Is your parrot managing btw?

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

I've had the same from hermes. I refused to accept any excuses. And they said that their system showed that I'd signed but they couldn't provide me with a copy of said signature.

I got my money back in the end.

" My experience is hermes is useless"
The have left me unimpressed before!

"If saying someone's signed for it yet not notified you of the address then I'd be suspect of the local agent."
I think this is VERY likely too! They might be on some sort of added bonus for number of deliveries / low number of attempted delivery to justify the driver doing so?

"If I know someone going to be sending me something via Hermes I usually offer to pay for RMail or other couriers I hold in higher in trust."
I am a big fan of RM too, works well in my area!

"Ring the company you ordered from, (hermes will say they cant deal with you has to go through the company). They will ask you to check all possible safe places, then tell you to wait a few days see if it turns up no doubt, before sending another item out."
Yes, if they are serious the prob will. There are zero 'safe places' in this building, but Yodel has once left a parcel (parrot stuff too, useless for anybody else) and it was still on my doorstep when I came hone!

"Sounds like the driver has signed for it himself and left it somewhere"
He may have. It's long gone lost then!

I had a similar issue with Amazon, where they said they had delivered a book to my address and I had signed for it...

However, I had waited in for the delivery and no one had knocked on my door all day!

I phoned Amazon after I got the confirmation email and told them I hadn't received or signed for anything and they refunded me straight away...

Then the next day someone I didn't know knocked on my door with my package, they lived in the house round the corner and just took the package when they answered the door and thought I might have been out

I called Amazon and told them and they said keep the book .. so I got it for free in the end

"... And they said that their system showed that I'd signed but they couldn't provide me with a copy of said signature."
Perhaps they do have a 'dodgy drivers' problem? Thus, in turn giving them an image problem: they wouldn't really be able to say if they have, would they?

Near the Border

Hermes ...I won't use this useless company. Been down here before with a alarm battery I ordered via ebay and lost £25 as ebay upheld with Hermes even thou they could not supply a signature.

my response is I won't use Hermes as a courier. I check with companies before placing orders and request RM.

I also stopped buying from ebay for six months, switched to amazon. Yes bit petty but my money my choice to remove business.

I'd make the seller aware and then have it out with Hermes.

I think I'll just start adding that as a standard note from now on in the PayPal message to seller. At least I can say that I did warn them if parcels don't arrive!

The seller offered to send the perch again and they also said they thought it was weird that Hermes had waited too long with the delivery of the parcel as they had tracked the delivery journey and it appeared very delayed.

I told them that they have all my sympathy and am willing to help contest that I have signed as I indeed had been in work. Seller thanked me for sharing this informationa and they are going to contact Hermes to look in to this.

Meanwhile, my note in the communal area has not produced any lost items so far! Which it wouldn't if the driver indeed HASN'T delivered anything!

The seller chose to just give me a full refund.

Poor Mr Parrot, no new perch for him!
