Ignoring all advice, I tend to put my mobile on the desk next to my pc etc. When I'm about to receive an incoming call the pc makes this sort of morse code noise prior to the phone ring.... its done it loads of times now and no call has come through. Where are all the missing calls going?
What would really happen if some sort of electronic cross over happens - would my phone die first or the pc?
What really happens in hospitals if your mobile phone was used? Some let you use them some don't.
How do you know if your microwave is leaking microwaves and cooking stuff around you? What would make you suspect it?

"Your phone keep searching for a signal and refreshing that is the sound of it doing it not only when call/txt comes in "
So the prolonged sound is an impending call and the little intermittents are aliens gathering information when the phone is idle is what you're really saying.... in my imagination....

Not a lot. You're at more danger from your mobile going off and surprising a doctor whilst s/he's sticking a needle in your arm than from medical equipment going wonky.
What I'm less sure about is how that equipment reacts to the signals sent to those Motorola pagers everyone in hospitals carries nowadays. I'd like think someone has carried out all the appropriate tests. |

So if not a lot happens why are we asked to turn them off? Whats different about pagers to mobiles? |

Oh God I'm going to be serious for second, sorry.
Do you know that Dudala dudala dudala sound you are all talking about? It's just radio waves interfering with your computer/radio/tv's electronics.
BUT
Have you ever had that thing where you thought about someone phoning you or texting you then miraculously a second later you get a call or text?
It's the same 'Dudadla dudala dudala' but your brain is actually receiving the signal
Who said we aren't all psychopathic! Sorry telepathic! |

It might be because staff find them distracting whilst trying to do what is sometimes delicate work.
Or it may date from the time when hospitals made quite a bit of money out of wheeling payphones to the bedside.
I think the difference between pagers and mobiles has to do with the wavelength each operates on but that may be bollocks. I'm sure someone here will know the answer. |

Mine sits in the hole beside the car radio and it does the same thing, either when a call / text is coming in or when the phone logs onto a different cell.
I can tell the difference now which is which. The call coming in sound is longer and more constant whereas the sound when it is switching cell is more of a pulsed sound |

I think it's most paroably to prevent the dimwits of society having their phone going off every 5 minutes in hospital and annoying the fuck out of everybody within earshot |

Mine makes the dadadula noise, I even start singing along with it at times. Me and David Guetta are bringing it out on vinyl this year, will be called the Dadadula Feebs Remix, will be the Ibiza tune of summer 2011 |

Thing is when you're in a hospital its not usually for a jamboree and the odds are you might have to ring someone if you have to stay in or have had an accident etc etc.... when you ask can I use my mobile they say yes so the theory of incoming calls being more annoying than outgoing probably has some strength to it. |

your phones are always sending n recieving info - some of this is quite deep in terms of networks working out where all their phones are - triangulating
all goes to market research and various things
your isp your email - your phone line - none of which you actually own you just pay to use - gets huge amounts of soemtimes quite personal data and use it how they wish
check the news and see how bt were just let off for snooping on all their customers - ooooooooo of course they wont do that again ehh no they just wont get caught :p

Thats what made me smile the most when people said they were not filling in their census form because it was giving away too much of their privacy! Info gathering is going on without us really consciously being involved. Apparently the first thing detectives look at when investigating a crime is a persons modem/router and not their hard drive. |

If it was morse it would be dotdotdot dashdashdash. Dudaladudaldudala is indeed the beginning of the Dr Who theme followed by a prolonged weee eee weeee eeee and a nanana, na, nanaaaa.
This is not to be confused with tothedump tothedump tothedump dump dump whic is the William Tell overture.
NeenaaNeenaaNeenaaNeenaa is obviously an approaching emergency vehicle whereas ner nerner ner nerner is a hoot of childish derision.
At which point I'll say;
Na nanana, Na nanana, Hey hey. Goodbye. |

You may have a point about the microwaves.
I stood next to mine while an Asda micro meal was cooking away merrily and I fear some of those micro waves may have seeped through.
My pubic hair has been burned to a crisp on one side. It looks strange and I'm now fearful of the microwaves uncanny powers! |

"mobile phones and other equipment are fairly safe, but never use your mobile whilst on charge, boom boom"
Aren't mobiles on charge when they're in hands-free car cradles? I use mine like that all the time with no problems. |
