Ive been nominated for an award tonight and expected to give some kinda speech .. Im not bothered by it as i actually did 'public speaking' at school and gave several presentations.

For some though the though of speaking to a crowd of people would be petrifying.

Are you confident with it or dread it?

In my line of work it's pretty much a daily necessity. It's never really phased me, though I do hate it when I'm given three minutes notice and have to wing it.

I'm quite comfortable with public speaking...I'd be pretty rubbish at my job if I wasn't.

Congratulations on the award x

Congrats.

Im one of those that dread it, even through school and higher education i hated it. For a final assessment in my degree after 6 months of research i had to give a 20 minute presentation (which doesnt sound alot). I stood outside just before mine having a quick practice....and completely blanked on what id even done my research on

I'm so horrible at public speaking. I get incredibly nervous. Sometimes I take beta-blockers and they hide some of the nerves.

Well done on the nomination and all.

Never found public speaking a problem personally, but I was also forward like that.

I think id crumble if i had to do financial business plan type speeches with figures and facts..

People can actually see me shaking if i have to speak infront of a crowd. Its terrible. Wish i was more confident in those situations

I have multiple butterflies at thought of public speaking, I hate doing it & flush bright red. The more I try to stop it the worse I become.

Funny because I'm quite happy to do other things in public, like sing or am dram.

perhaps its the pressure,, with singing or acting these are things we choose to do through free will

with a presentation of some kind there is often a motive and purpose behind it with a need to impress

Public speaking isn't my favourite thing to do, and it does make me nervous beforehand, but I'm generally ok once I start. I've had to do it a few times in various capacities. I usually have to try and make sure I don't start babbling on and stick to what I need to say

I prefer talking to a room than 1 person. I used to call bingo in front of 500+ people.

Put me in front of 1 person, I feel so ooo awkward

As long as you stick to the script and avoid thanking everyone including primary school teachers speeches are ok,no one likes a waffler so wtf do people do it? Keep it brief+to the point.

Something like...Hi everybody,cheers for the award..Bye

Awesome news!

I love the sound of my own voice and I'm pretty confident. Public speaking isn't an issue at all. Getting me to stop is the difficult part.

Used to be in a rock band and played guitar on open mic nights as well, So had to sing in front of a room full of people!! Initially my heart would be racing and I'd be all nervous, But when your up there all you can see is a giant spotlight and shadows behind it, Plus we were so loud I could barely hear myself think let alone hear the crowd. So I suppose sometimes it's the fear before hand than actually doing it, Well it was in my case.

Yes I agree.

Also with singing I'm not really playing me if that makes sense.
