Seriously though, not sure about the legalities of it all, but it was much easier to do years ago before everything became digital.
My mate bought a car back in the 80's which had 35k showing, it had done probably 3x that amount |

My auld dears ex bought used card n sold them from the house.
Many a time I'd go through to the kitchen n he'd have the dashboard opened up on the table, clocking back the miles! |

His wife and child were killed in a road accident which is rather sad, but it seems to have sent him over the edge. He constantly takes random car numbers and has not had any electricity in his flat for at least the 3 yrs that I have been in this block.
He obviously has his convictions and will stick with them til the day he dies I think.
Sad but true...... |

That is pretty sad!

"Anyone know of anyone who can do it?
Why
Long story mate, but believe it or not it's not to con anyone "
So you want to clock a car for your own personal use for when you look at the odemeter? Sounds at the very best bizarre and more likely conplete BS. Clocking a car serves one purpose.. to allow some mug to think it's done less miles.
I might post a topic: anyone know how to commit money fraud? At what point is it illegal? Ps it's not my own personal gain believe it or not. |

or maybe his speedometer has broke and been replaced by a 2nd hand one which now has the wrong mileage? |

In this cases you just have to inform the DVLA of the new milliage that is recorded and they will update the records with an odometer change |

"If you sell it and don't tell the buyer. Other than that if it's your car you can do what the fuck you like with it "
Yeh & no..if you give ya jalopy a haircut thus making it back in warranty as it's gone over its fraud to claim...that's why some cars store mileages in multiple places..I've heard even in headlight ecu's |

Not if it's been on a private or cherished plate... I regularly see cars missing many years out due to plate changes |

"Isn't mileage recorded on MOT certificates? And they can also be viewed online.
Anyone who does this is stupid & reckless in my opinion."
And probably hundreds even thousands better off..
If you buy a new range rover and do 15k a year and wind it back to 5 in three years it's done 45k but showing 15...the difference is huge yet costs approx £100 a time...you work out why people do it |

Quick question does anyone know what part of mugging someone is illegal? Is it when it occurs.. or when I spend their money?
Also.. anyone know anyone who can do it?
Believe or not it's not for my own gain.

It's easier now... All you need is a lap top with the correct software plugged in to the EBD socket. You used to have to undo a few screws lol
Before anyone asks - I work for a manufacturer at a main dealership. I know how because of this, not because I'm dodgy lol
And no I wont tell you who can do it! If it were for legitimate reasons I can't understand why you just wouldn't take the car to the correct dealership and let them correct it for you |

You replaced the clocks with a newer set as the old ones broke but they can check the cars miles via vosa mots if they wanted as it's recorded every year by the tester |

It's usually onlying done for reason. To con someone when selling a car. They've made them digital now to try and stop this and if you take it for it mot it show up as all the cars imfo is kept on a database now. |

There is nothing stopping someone racking up thousands of miles and just before an Mot clocking it back to 10000 more than the last Mot though |

My sister paid someone to take 2k off her clock because she was about to go over her mileage allowance before her car went back. Was a 9 month old car, guy came with a laptop and done it in less than 5 minutes. |
