If there was an open list of what companies use which couriers do you think it would effect where you do your online shopping with?

For me i buy a lot of stuff through 'Yours Clothing' and have had really piss poor service from Hermes.. to the extent ive no longer used them if i need things Next Day delivery.

Round our way Yodel are actually pretty good

We've always had OK experiences with hermes. But yodel, that's a different story.

Somewhere in North Norfolk

I've had serious problems with both Hermes and Yodel.

Amazon have always been great and that's one reason I continue to use them despite their tax avoidance.

They both pay shite rates to there couriers taking the cream of the money for themselves so don't get professional couriers doing the jobs.

I'm a self employed courier myself and would not even look at them for work.

In my experience Yodel are the worst closely followed by Hermes. There are online retailers I no longer buy from because they use Yodel and I try and avoid them if at all possible. Round our way they don't even attempt delivery; just say they have and your parcel ends up back at the depot.

I already do that to a certain extent. After a while can hazard a guess what courier will bring. If I don't want to wait in I go for one's who use Royal Mail so I can collect from sorting office if I miss it x

Wouldnt use yodel. Lets leave your parcel in a random place then give you a criptic clue where to find it. I dont really have a problem with hermes as i know what time he delivers.

As for stuff getting lost cause i order so much i can sometimes have 4 items in a month go missing but thats usually royal mail

I've never had an issue with any courier whether it be Hermes, Yodel or DPD. Think I must be a lucky one and I do a lot of online shopping.

I actively avoided places which shipped via CityLink. They consistently trashed everything they delivered to me but refused to accept responsibility for any of the damage.

Very happy when those assholes went bust.

Ideal world use Hermes, orderd two items over 50 pound value. Never delivered . so refunded and refuse too use Ideal world anymore.

The firm getting best reviews are FedEx. Item if not delivered first time is put out twice more, before being held back in depot. They now own TNT so see if they get better

When I've had 5had things delivered by hermes and yodel, it's just someone in their own car doing it as an extra job. That's ok in some instances, but they dont have the knowledge as someone doing it fulltime. Also they dont have any depots to collect from if you miss the delivery.

When i send parts from my busines I wouldn't select either of them even though they can be slightly cheaper.

I am not sure I could avoid any particular delivery company, as the sites I use don't generally disclose which company they use.

When I order from Amazon, sometimes the item is delivered by a person in a car, sometimes by Royal Mail and sometimes by a different company altogether.

I was impressed by a recent DX delivery. In the morning, I got a card saying I was out and to call the depot. Later in the afternoon I got a telephone call from the driver asking if I was now in and ready to take delivery. That was a real plus.

I won't use anybody except dpd if it's important, I found from experience there the most reliable

Central

It bothers me how many of them abuse their courier staff, paying them below minimums and no pension etc. I'm keen to select them on service quality and ethical treatment of their staff.

I have always found DPD very reliable and able to narrow down your delivery to a one hour time slot. I have used Hermes and also found them to be reliable.

Yodel on the other hand, useless morons with no customer service skills whatsoever.

"UPS - excellent reliable courier"

UPS is ok but you understand that they sub work out as well.

Im self employed fully insured courier and work on that basis I drive at the moment for one of the same day big nationals but can work for anyone if I want to.

I have in the past done lots of deliveries for UPS on a oner off basis they just want the package there on time

With Hermies and Yodal they use a lot of what you would call lifestyle couriers who do it part time mostley and most of the time in thier own area get paid a low rate and use the family car so they dont have to stump up the couple of grand insurance that full time couriers have to pay

Agreed on Fedex for better than average rates, mind you a lot of problems are caused by the retail market offering lower and lower delivery costs and as the courier companies still want to make thier big chunck of the money it drives the rate to to actual courier down so then you get a lot of unprofessionals doing it for pocket money

hiding from cock pics.

I no longer Trust my Hermes at all. I used to send some of my customers out using the service and their through someone's products over the wall into their garden. They only found then 3 days later after it been raining and they had complained to me that they were late.

Even though it was the couriera error I still lost the sale and customer unfortunately.
