Up in our neck of the woods, Slaithwaite is pronounced Slowit (ow as in pain, not slow as in tardy)
But you only get to say it like that if you're a local. And the natives get to decide when you've lived they're long enough to be considered local.
I swear Royston Vasey was based on that place. |
