Scientists have estimated that the Greenland Shark lives to about 400 years old. It does not become sexually active until it is 150 years old.

I've just read this on BBC and was amazed. Followed quickly by WTF, because they know because they've accidentaly been caught and killed by fishing nets. So sad when these animals were born in the 1700's

Ah, but the oldest mollusk was clam called Ming, if memory serves, that was accidentally killed by scientists trying to ascertain how old it was

Interestingly Ming is a common Chinese name. The first emperor of China died from drinking a potion that had been designed to give him eternal life. Unfortunately they didn't have Wikipedia in those days and some bright spark put mercury in it.
