Should we get some and keep them on the allotment and if so does anyone have a coop that'll house 6 - 10 chooks they no longer need, (close to northampton)

Oh, we get fresh eggs, we live in a village and most ppl have chooks, been told I can keep hens on the allotment but I'm not allowed cock on there ...... we both love a cock or two lol |

Well it seems you have plenty of peeps around to get advice from reguards their upkeep. To be honest, unless you can keep access to the eggs locked, I wouldn`t have them on an allotment for obvious reasons! Plus it`s a bit more difficult to keep an eye out for Mr. (or Mrs.) Fox. One other thing you`ll have to watch which may prove unpopular with fellow allotment holders is that for some reason, fresh chicken poo seems to make stinging nettles grow like sh*t where they haven`t appeared before! |

We help care for friends chickens when they are away,i would love to keep our own.Fresh eggs and lovely animals.
If you do get some may i suggest getting rescued battery hens.They are sent to slaughter when their production of eggs decines,however they are stil producing eggs.It is incredible to see bald,scared,thin chickens transformed in a matter of weeks.
