Just curious about other people's experiences with this.
I have an old school friend that does put his foot in his mouth quite often, apologises then does it again.
I've recently noticed on FB that whenever a story about a bi male celeb comes up on the Pink News page that he'll say something like "no one cares as he'll just come out as gay soon anyway." I doubt he even realises that a slight in a bi person, regardless of the gender, can be a slight on the whole bi community.
We were close friends, bur since he moved to Newcastle we hardly see each other or talk anyway. So would you say something or leave it? Cos I'm about so far off posting my own status about it in Facebook.  |

I have seen other people comment on this topic before (not on this forum) the bi community seems to be stuck getting it from both sides. To many straight men, if you suck a cock you are gay. Its a gay thing to do. Apparently tho many gay men and women see bisexuality as lazy and non committal.
I have a friend who is still talk of the area we live in because she left to go "be a Lesbian in dublin". She was living with her girlfriend but she was bisexual and often dated men too. This meant she was not welcome into many Lesbians circles. When she came home people said she had "put all that nonsense behind herself and settled down". But in reality she's just as attracted to women now as she was then.

If people post stuff that I find offensive on facebook I block them. I tend to like my FB to be drama free

Yep... I've found it from gay men, lesbians and straight people. I think bi people on here calling themselves greedy doesn't help either.
If I'm with a man I'm straight. If I'm with a woman I'm lesbian.
It doesn't bother me enough to say anything though. Up to you if you feel strongly enough to mention it. I think it's not worth the effort. |

I've found it significantly less in the gay and lesbian community as a percentage of people, by a factor of hundreds.
You can always find stupid or bigoted people anywhere if you look hard enough though |

Perhaps one of the most patronising phrases a bisexual will ever hear is ‘just a phase.’
Those three little words have huge power.
They place doubt over that person’s sexuality.
They treat that person as a child who can’t possibly know who they are attracted to and they put that person’s entire identity into question.
Yes, it’s true that for some bisexuality is a phase, an exploration of their sexuality, or a security blanket for some lesbians and gay men as they start to come out of the closet.
But to suggest that every bisexual is just in a phase is ridiculous and completely undermines thousands of people’s sense of identity
A huge problem is that bisexuals don’t just face this dismissive attitude from straight people, it comes from within the LGBT community too, who sometimes forgets that the B stands for bisexual and is there for a reason.
But whatever.

I think its ridiculous that anyone who has gay rights close to their hearts can then be so dismissive of other peoples sexuality, what do they thinknis going to happen? Do they think they are going to "catch the strheght"
They should be more like the kinky butler, all I see are people, beautiful, interesting, people, its about time everyone started to treat each other better
