I've done a forum search to no avail and have watched numerous YouTube vids but would like to know.....
How the FUCK can I get my abs to show and get rid of my disgusting stomach flab?
Any recommendations gratefully received. |

Everyone has abs you just need to get rid of the fat that covers them. For a guy you'd need to be about 14% body fat to see them a little bit and 10% and less for them to be really defined.
You also can't spot reduce fat it will need to come off all over. You could do a very strict cut and get down to 10% then do a very clean bulk to get your shoulders and back and thighs a nice size. |

"Abs are made in the kitchen
Exercise all you want but unless you eat clean and use more calories than you take in your abs will be hidden by fat. "
Followed by high cardio and crunches |

your dreams |
Lose the flab and do abdominal exercises, you will only see your abs once the fat has gone.
I'm in week 8 of finding my abs and triceps and I have begun to notice a difference.
Cut down on carbs and up your protein intake because protein builds muscle etc etc...
I hope you get motivated, good luck |

Mike chang on 6pack shortcuts have some good info, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6AIijlrA7Y
It is all about doing cardio and dieting, eat a high protein diet with low carbs for few months and keep the calories under the maintenance level, about 2100kcal, patience is the key. |

Ok....I go to the gym twice a week but mainly for general non specific cardio and some bicep exercises. I'm veggie and average in build - 6ft 2tall, 32 waist, about 75 kilos in weight. I have a protein shake once a day and try to have a healthy diet. I'm at my wits end. I've been doing 20 sit ups for weeks daily and absolutely nothing has happened. I can't see any body shape changes at all. All advice so far is helpful. Thank you. |

Pilates will help build your core strength, as will yoga. Crunches can often do nothing if you are not using the correct muscle groups. If you are using your neck, back and the ones that attach to your legs to lift ya, you'll get nowhere.
The bugger is, you have to have a certain amount of core strength to even start using those muscles - stomach vacuums might be better for you right now |

Haha - no, where you stand with your hands on a counter/table top and breathe out, sucking everything in for a ten count - clench your buttocks and pelvic floor at the same time, like you're trying to stop a ten pound note escaping from between the cheeks. Repeat several times.
It engages the abdominal muscles far better than trying to pull yourself up using them, especially if they are underused already. Youtube it and it should come up. |

I feel for you. A couple of years back I was doing a hundred sit ups a day, got down to 59Kg and looked like a Biafran refugee, but still no abs. So now I just enjoy good food too much. |

By the way. To have the six pack you seek, you have to have a very low amount of body fat. You can be fit as a fiddle but you really need to be on a strict diet plan. |

Abs are endurance muscles so they don't grow a great deal.
The biggest factor is genetics. l keep decent abs no matter what or how much l eat. Then it's all diet. Lower the carbs and processed sugar.
Hope this helps. |

Targeted fat loss doesn't really follow the science of how our bodies gain and lose weight, including fat imo.
A person may have great fitness and muscles but a layer of fat won't melt away just because they're there.
It's usually better to accept what you have and target your weight so that it's heal- without massive weight loss binges. |

Ok
Cut Out fast carbs
And limit you carb intake to slow/complex carbs
Intermittent fasting
(Dont eat after 7pm and go to sleep on an empty stomach. Miss breakfast and make sure you workout before lunch. Make your lunch wholesome and eat as much as you want between 12-7)
Sprint
(2 minute jog and then a 10 second burst of sprinting at full pace then repeat upto 8 times)
You'll be ripped in 2 months
If you do it that is

"Cut out sugar from your diet.
But I was brought up on Irn Bru."
Me too but guess what Irnbru sugarfree is the closest tasting diet version to the original.
Always drink it now..in fact it was the gateway drink that led me on to harder drinks such as zero...all the way through to the totally un-like diet .
It's the way to go...if not for diet then as a start to limiting sugar intake.
Go get the light bru big man?

Well, it's up to you if you really want to do it. It will be really hard work as you will need to stick to a very strict diet (permanently) and in my opinion it is unnecessary.
You look slim and reasonably fit to me. You do not have disgusting stomache flab.

I think your body fat levels have to drop below or around 10% for the abs to show. Assuming you've done the relevant exercises to develop them. |

It's definitely very dependant on diet, cut out as much junk food and processed foods as you can. Allow yourself a treat once in a while or there's a good chance you'll get fed up and binge. It's worth doing regular core workouts too so when you do shed the pounds you've got a strong set of abs to show off. Good luck! |

I'm about just over halfway into losing the 'belly fat' covering over my abs.
1. I eat mainly protein
2. I've removed most of the (obvious) sugar from my diet
3. I avoid carbs
4. I do intermittent fasting (basically two meals per day, with 19 hours between dinner & lunch the next day food free)
4. I've now binned dairy.
I joined the gym about 6 weeks ago...I now go 7 days per week (I run 5k & row 3k each day with a bit of light weightlifting).
This is the look I ultimately seek....
https://s7.postimg.org/6jzac36nv/physique.jpg
I started in early June...I've lost 2 stone (I now weigh 11st9lbs... I'm 6ft).
Some observations...
1. The abs are only just starting to show (very weak, still a good layer of fat to be busted!)...keeps you going though as they start to shiw
2. My face is now looking gaunt (the weight goes from everywhere)
3. It's getting a little old now! (the protein-centric diet is boring and the gym mundane!)
I'll keep going though...target weight is 10st 10lbs - I should be done by October.
