When I was 18 you couldn't get my clothes off in public if you had manacles and a potato peeler...but here I am 48....bollock naked in the sun in my garden inviting the world to behold me!!
Have you guys got more confidence in yourself as you've matured?
Or have you just always known you were wonderful?

" . I couldn't have worded it better myself, 10 years ago, when actually I was thinner and fitter, I would never have dreamt of being naked anywhere, now well I just love being naked not sure why Not sure it's confidence as I still don't see when I look in the mirror how mr describes me, I would say it's perhaps more acceptance mixed up with a whole loads of hormones Mrs blue eyes |

I've given up trying to work out, it makes me so grumpy cuz I have so little kid free time, I'm.constantly exhausted. I'm learning to accept my wobbly bits. If men don't find it attractive then move on and I'll find one that will x |

Yes, aged 18 and 2 sizes smaller than now I was painfully shy. I wore jeans all summer rather than go out in shorts or a skirt, same on nights out, now I've got skimpy dresses and I don't give a fuck. Don't like it don't look. Can still be rather shy with a new bed mate, but if they're any good I soon forget to worry. |

So the lucky few are gifted with confidence from the off...looks like the majority of us have it to look forward to tho...age brings acceptance of self...and a more balanced perspective of other people's views and how much (or how little) they should affect us. |

I've just got to an age where I don't care as much about what others think. I've just been on holiday with my kid's and the guy comes for the money for our sun beds/umbrella and I was topless as I hate having tan lines. My girl's asked does it not bother you that you don't have your top on and I said there's one great thing about being my age as opposed to your's you just don't give a damn what others think. Besides he was pretty cute |

I'd say I was less confident now than I was 10 years ago but that's because I know what my body is capable of looking like. I don't have 1 visible ab any more, virtually no muscle definition in my legs, biceps are now bingo wings! |

Not sure about that, for every woman who grows in confidence as she gets older there's another who goes the opposite way. I also think the confidence to get naked is different to general body confidence many people wouldn't even think about stripping off simply because they don't want to not because they feel their body isn't good enough. |

Absolutely and my body is nowhere near in the same shape / condition as it was when I was in my 20's.
The thing is now I rarely give a toss about what others think & that's the difference between the 48 me & the 28 me. |

Pretty much nudist at home and always have been. There was never any privacy growing up and we all wandered around naked...you couldn't even go to the loo without someone popping their head tound the door to ask what drink you wanted with dinner, or nipping in to change the towels!
Consequently, I've never had a problem with me. I grew up skinny, matured into curvy, and now have thighs like the proverbial treetrunks and a buddha belly . Doesn't matter what my body is though, I'm still me and I'm not fussed who sees it. |

My body ain't the best, I'm not the best looking bloke in the world, but the way I look at it, this is me!
And if you want what my mind can offer, and want to feel what's in my soul, then your going to have to put up with the lumpy bits, its worth it though |

I'm not body confident at all. My body is horrendous compared to how it used to be.
I hate my big fat saggy apron tummy and my recent weight gain. I feel like a big fat mess just now.
Still it is what it is and I'm lucky and grateful to be alive so perspective and all that.

Yeah definitely. Like I had a 6 pack from the age of 12 till I got pregnant when I was 26 and was watching each one fill into this big belly! I was even back in size 6 clothes after I gave birth but can't dedicate the same time as before, used to be in the gym for 3 hours a day at least. It's shit when you look at you body now and then see pictures of what you looked like before. |

Not sure if I'm more body confident or whether I've reached that point where other people's opinions of my body just don't matter.
Could be dead tomorrow, I'd rather wear what I want and enjoy myself than be concerned over others thoughts on my bingo wings and my 4 spare tyres.

Just because I'm not fat I'm still fatter than I've ever been in my life. It's a massive change to me. My fake boobs were put on me 9 years ago when I was size 6 and 8 stone so they're not even in proportion to my body now and they look smaller cos my body is bigger! I don't have a hard body anymore it's soft and squishy and I don't particularly like it because it's not what I'm used to.

Well of course you're going to be bigger you're getting older and you've had a child that's a fact of life, especially if you don't have the time to dedicate to the gym anymore. I'm sure there is exercise you can do at home once your daughter is in bed if you are so unhappy that's if you have the energy after a busy day. |

I suppose there are two effects going on here..my Ugly Duckling thing with people feeling unhappy with themselves but gradually growing in confidence, acceptance and perspective about their appearence...
And the Darling Buds of May thing where people have been gifted from the off with youthful good looks which has formed the basis of their positive mental self image...only to have time and toil take that gradually away from them.
I'd like to think though that the buds, although delayed in their path to true personal enlightenment (cheesy clished rhetoric yes?) will come to realise that there is more to attractiveness than the superficial...smarts, maturity, life experience and (perhaps ironically) confidence are all very attractive things.

I think with hard work & dedication I could probably get back the body I had in my 20's but I don't I really want to be that person constantly on a diet & exercising, no I don't think I do.
I weigh up my life now & back then, ultimately I am happy with my whole package now & that's more important to me then having a gym bunny body.
Each to their own, of course |

"I grew up with a mother who only commented negatively on my appearance. That's a hard thing to shake."
To a lesser degree I have some idea how that must feel x |

I've never had a great body and will never be fully body confident but I am face confident and me confident so I figure two out of three isn't bad and just get on with it when I have to get naked in front of anyone. Years of hearing 'you'd be pretty if you lost weight' has me thinking 'I'm possibly pretty' rather than 'I'm fat'. But then I'm an optimistic type. |

"I'd say I was less confident now than I was 10 years ago but that's because I know what my body is capable of looking like. I don't have 1 visible ab any more, virtually no muscle definition in my legs, biceps are now bingo wings!
I'm the same
When i was young i used to work in strip joints, gentlemen clubs, you know the get a dance but you cant tuch type places to help pay me through uni, i had a great body back then, 20 years and three sections later i just look at myself and think fuck me how did you get like this
If a guy walked into such a place now days and had me walk over to them they would run a mile
I think its harder when you used to be happy with your body
Yeah definitely. Like I had a 6 pack from the age of 12 till I got pregnant when I was 26 and was watching each one fill into this big belly! I was even back in size 6 clothes after I gave birth but can't dedicate the same time as before, used to be in the gym for 3 hours a day at least. It's shit when you look at you body now and then see pictures of what you looked like before.
Yeah because you've really turned into something hideous haven't you!!! Heaven's sake woman you look fine to me and you know full well a lot of others think the same to
Just because I'm not fat I'm still fatter than I've ever been in my life.

I moan about my stomach well moan to myself anyway and I know if I put the time and effort in I may be able to do something about it,but I don't so I suppose I just don't care enough really otherwise I would |

I'm not body confident, but I also dont lack body confidence. It just isn't something I give too much thought to, if I'm honest. Some things about my body bother me and some thing I particularly like, but I think that is a relatively common feeling. |

Just where I need to be. |
I have more confidence as I hit my 40s. I think I saw myself as a woman then, not a mum or wife which gave me a new outlook on my body. I have grown comfortable in my skin and I'm not affected by anyone else's opinion. |

Im not sure whether its confidence but when i was big i wouldnt where the clothes i wear now. I wouldnt have found any to fit me and if i had it wouldnt have been a good look. So i wear things i wouldnt have dreamed of wearing before. Has for being naked doesnt bother me but im not going to run and down the street naked |
