Well, if it wasnt enough of a shock to find I was bisexual, now I am having -lowers head in shame- strange thoughts about trading in my fast, handling, loonatick mad grin inspiring sports 1000cc for a -well, errr a, a HARLEY!!
I mean I do like Throbbing V twins anyway, but I find myself getting strangely excited by the thought of open face helmets, sunglasses, sedate but loud cruising and (I nearly can't bear to say it) leather tassles.....
Is this normal, is it an illness and if so is there a cure? Something cant be right becuase I am even justifying the ridicolous £18k price tag for a softail against Kawasaki's mere£9k for a faster, probably more rwliable bike. REALLY, I am, resale value and all that. The idea of having the space to take a king sized blow up matress for my tent is becoming more attractive, the thought of bruising your knees on hardground and my bum pushing on the roof of my two man tent doesn't sound as much fun as it used to-not to mention the fact that fitting more than two people (erm, try four people engaged in traditional bike rally evening entertainments ) in a two man tent was a bit of a squeeze actually. Was fun at the time though, nobody knew whos bits were whose and the tent fell down eventually . So, is there a cure or am I doomed to look like one of the village people? |

Dont do it,Harleys ok if you only want to go posing locally,if you need to go posing further afield take your back doctor and a crutch to help you walk when you get off the hog.If you need to carry gear and go long distances get a Pan arrive at the other end of the country fresh as a daisy and still able to walk |

nooooooooo, don't do it. Harleys are a lifestyle, not a bike. That would be a fat, middle aged, balding midlife crisis lifestyle. I am fat middle aged and balding but wouldn't be seen dead on one. If you want style go brit, not yank ffs. Oh i ride japanese. |

you do not need to spend so much on a harley.
the nightster sportster is a lot cheaper and looks a mean bike.
but its all about looks and street dred than plastic high speed thrills.
each to their own. |

certainly high street dred. As harleys target market is middle aged men trying to hang onto something then the whole lifestyle is a consumer and profit issue. God bless marketing and advertising. |

step away from the harley...go on...back away
you know that 95% off all harleys are still on the road...the rest made it home
we do a lot of rallies, and we got a vstrom, sit up an beg beautiful bike that is v comfy espesh on longer rides and with all the rally camping stuff, she holds a lot.
first one is ELL for us cant wait for rally season to kick off woohoo, but we never had the pleasure of playing out on one, but then again we are fairly new to this scene |

I'm on my third Harley build, all of them rigid, all reliable, even my third will be, this I know even before its set tyre on tarmac.
We have a saying...."Made in the U.S.A built in the U.K", that's were the reliability comes in.
1st was an Iron Head Sportster, then a Shovel Head (God I miss it!)and now another Evo Sportster, it should set me back around £3,500 tops and be tailor made individual machine.
If you have to take time to think about swapping a clone bike for a Harley forget about it and stick with the Power Ranger crowd.
On the otherhand, if you want an individual machine that you can spot in any line up from 100 yards, then build yourself a Harley.
Remember its what you ride not how fast you ride or how many risk's you take.
Think about this.....How many cruisers or chop's do you see lying in the road next to an Ambulance?
Don't forget "Loud pipes save lives!".
The guys I ride with will all tell you it's not just about building and riding a Harley, its about the lifestyle and brotherhood that goes with it.
As I said, if you have to think hard about it, it's probably not for you. R |

dare i say it
from many years ago passing my bike test and learning - i will die in 2 weeks - total love of the speed and completely nil respect for turning - i wisely realised bikes will kill me
but toooooo me it sounds like ......
theres a biker about to buy a volvo!
practical - spacious - simple - and can be filled with an 8 man tent with the bbq porch add on and a stack of beers
so you know you wanna keep that guided missile at 9k for a bit longer
at 9k and you can still run out 50 60 80 even 100 grand sports cars
keep the 2 man and wooooo hoooooo the roads for a few more years |

OK, been doing a bit of tuning on my bike and a new set of super sticky tyres. I took it out for the first time yesterday since these modifications. Oh dear.......
It now wheelies in 3rd gear off the power, and accelerates like a dog that's just sat on a nettle plant. Goes round corners like it's on rails. It causes you to have an insane grin on your face as you are riding around - I don't think I want to get rid of it |

" we will all beat you with a helmet "
I read that as "beating his helmet" Then beating him with your helmet. I think I'm getting my helmets mixed up, but prefer my versions! |
