Boy would I change if I could go back ten years.
1. I thought I couldn't afford a child back then so we put it off! Things have only got worse.
2. I'd change everything I've ever done with money!
3. I'd have followed a course that leads to success! Not construction that leads to no life!
4. I'd focus on what I love to do not what pays the bills to just be a slave!
Currently I've never felt so low, and I clearly know the path to take for the next ten years, but the dark cloud hovering over me has to be pierced through first.
Don't let your life slip through your fingertips and make the change now!
What would you have changed if you could go back ten years? will you change now?

We made major life changes just under a year ago, they wouldn't have been possible 10 years ago. You have to trust that things happen in your life at the time they're supposed to, looking back and wishing you'd done things differently isn't useful because you're doing it with hindsight and its likely that if had the benefit of th st nobody would make bad decisions. Onwards and upwards, good luck on the road ahead |

I've recently ended a relationship that started 10 years ago.
I gave up a lot for him, good well paid job with excellent perks etc
I look back & I could kick myself for some of the things I did/didn't do over the last 10 years BUT.....
We had kids together, wouldn't change that for the world!
It's hard being a single parent though |

You have a plan now. If those 10 years hadn't happened things may have been different - or worse. Try to see it as a positive. Hope you feel better. x
I wouldn't change anything for me, even the bad stuff. It's all made me who I am.
A right miserable grumpy old cow.

the dark cloud is possibly because you are living in the past..just start with today, do something that makes you smile..if that changes in 5 mins, 5 hours, thats not right now..become much more present and say 5 things you can be thankful for, today and everyday, it helps build a life with a positive foundation and attitude...and its never too late to take all of your experiences, dump them and start all over again. clean your slate and start living now xx |

Hi...I would have got out of a bad marriage sooner. Not driven myself mad climbing the career ladder and enjoyed life instead. I am happier now than ever and know exactly what I want and what makes me happy. |

It difficult being a single parent, I've been on my own for 11 years. I can't pm you. Make sure you get your tax credits sorted. It's tough but does get better. Feel free to message me. |

I regret drinking too much because i was depressed, it just made things worst.
I regret not cuddling my little dog more when she was alive because i miss her.
I regret meeting some of the men i did who were not nice to me.
The things i wont be doing again is drinking too much and being more careful who i meet on here.

In the last 10 years I finally got the courage to leave an unhappy marriage, went to university, got professionally qualified, and have a relationship with my kids that goes from strength to strength.
The only thing I would change would be telling my mum to get what she thought was a mouth ulcer looked at sooner... |

Sounds good. I know what you mean about your mum though because my mum had pains in her neck and shoulder, she went to an osteopath but it didnt get better and i said to her it takes time because i had been to see one before. Then my brother said she should see a chiropractor in bournemouth and he took x rays which showed she had cancer and she died a few months later. |

i wouldn't change anything in the past 10 years, i left my ex husband just over 9 year ago and since then my life has only improved
I qualified from uni, so now have a good job, my own home im happy in, three beautiful girls im very proud of and my own life im happy with
The only regret i have in the past 10 years is my daugher having an hysterectomy when she was 18, i guess if i could go back id go back to before the operation and see if we could have got things done sooner and save her womb, but theres no saying it could have been |

Yup, the mouth ulcer was a tumour, by the time she went it was too late. |

We all make mistakes though, you were sensible not to have a child if you couldnt afford it, having a child changes your life a lot and you have less freedom. Also you were lucky to have a job, some people havnt even got that.
The majority of people are just working to pay their bills etc not that many people are lucky enough to do a job they enjoy, they work because they have to. |

Some really good replies here and I appreciate every one. Moving on and being in the present is the most important as is to live and enjoy life. The main point I've recently learnt is that work is not worth the effort if you don't enjoy it. I know you will all say that you need to work to pay the bills - well I need to pay the bills also but recently said enough is enough and walked out. How the bills get paid still needs to be sorted but that I think is the least of my worry. My future is the biggest priority right now! Thanks again for every single reply xxx |

i have no regrets in life. Yes, i could've done things differently, so could we all have. I could've made different choices. The thing is, i'm in a great place right now and i'm loving the direction that my life is going in. I wouldn't have been able to get where i am now without my past being what it is. For that i am thankful. Thankful for the choices i have made, the places i have been and the people that have crossed my path. Without them i would not be on a path, that i feel, i am meant to be on.
OP, i hope you find the light in your darkness and have the strength and courage to face your fears. Fear is just a state of mind. It isn't a real thing. Learn not to be afraid and find your path. Learn every day. Surround yourself with positive people and places. Believe and live the person you want to become now. Find your negative influences and disgard them. They will only bring you down. So be thankful for your past, realise that you are already everything you need to be what you want to be and that you have the same 24hrs a day that we all have. Make every minute count, so that you can realise your dreams and go get them. Good luck OP. |

if i listed my last 10 yr life things to change we would be here for a fortnight as is the case for many of us i think
My personal happiness often sat on the back burner due to commitments or situations i created or found myself but felt i couldnt escape from
Then just over 4 yrs ago i met my best friend who became after a long wait my partner n soul mate the man who changed everything on of all places here who gave me the courage to move forward believe in myself n persue the happiness i often denyed myself
Life is not a dress rehearsal and regrets over past losses and mistakes serve only to bring you down n often fill your heart with bitterness and looking back all the time means you miss whats possible n right in front of you the future is what you make for yourself and i now believe anything is possible if i set my mind to it
I was also given an amazing book of quotes by a friend to inspire me by oscar wilde n as oscar so beautifully said "we are all in the gutter but some of us are looking to the stars" so today i accept myself n my life and i look for my stars

In saying you have hit rock bottom but being that low there is only way left to go and that's up!! All the best.
Back to you're question... Probably choose a career |

I wouldn't change a thing because if it wasn't for what I've gone through I wouldn't be thee person I am today and if I changed anything then I wouldn't be as I am now and the grass wouldn't necessarily be any greener
All I can do is change the here and now if I wanted to make changes
I took that step this year
I finally told the guy I've been in love with for 15yrs that I love him, it hasn't changed our situation he is still with someone and living his life. But I am no longer carrying it around and having to ignore him when he jokes about us never getting together. He told me hoe he felt and i never thot he felt that way about me and now he knows I felt that way too after telling me he knows I never felt that way about him.
I regret nothing because without it who am I? Why am I the way I am?
The good thing about black clouds is they blow over, they don't feel it at the time and sometimes u hot rock bottom before u have a hand reaching to help pull u ip or u suddenly realise the items to build a ladder out are infront of you but u never sae them befor
I hope things improve for u |
