Same here, there has been so much negativity around it it's tainted it a bit.

This one has the Russian doping issues and the Zika virus as the stories. Others usually have deaths building the stadia or clearing slums and leaving people homeless. Then the sport starts and we concentrate on the medals.

I understand the sentiment but the IOC is not the athletes or the people who have worked hard to create the opening ceremony or the games.

I watched a documentary about the opening ceremony of the London olympics ... bear in mind London is tiny compared to rio and we still did a much better job ... and we had Daniel Craig and the queen |

We have fewer people living in the gutter though.
Nothing is going to top London for me as it was very personal, as well as having friends performing in the opening ceremony.
I just like seeing what others do and seeing the teams and their outfits.

Erm.... London isn't tiny compared to Rio is it? It's bigger in population at any rate. I agree it was a better shown though (although Sydney was best of the lot) |

Mine stuck around a but. One went to live in America,although he is half Brazilian half Portuguese and was born in America. Still see one of them,a proper born and bred Brazilian. He's nice |

Very true..I remember the run up to 2012 & one of the programmes was about "What happens after?" & Athens & Being were just instantly mothballed & not used again & our stadium is going to a football team some four years later.
Bad joke really, All the countries should put in a pot and build the best of everything in one perfect location & just have it there every four years...bollox to keep building new stadiums, use what you have or don't host them..simples..
