Get yourself checked for fibroids or endometriosis. These are two common causes of severe menstrual pain and there is treatment available.
I discovered I had fibroid. The pain and bleeding were unimaginable. I'm sorted now and have no problems. |

I feel your pain today, I was woken in the middle of the night and here she was she brought with her the ice cold spoon of pain.
I'm currently laid on the sofa having taken paracetamol and brufen clutching a hot bean bag cussing as I'm supposed to be out tonight.

"Kilogram bar of galaxy. "
I like your thinking.
I'll man up and cry on the floor in a foetal position then.
It's premenstrual.
I'm lucky enough to get ovulation pain too!

I've had cysts (not big enough to worry about) but other than that nothing flagged up on last scan.
I'm glad you got that sorted out.
It sounds complete hell. |

Glad you seem clear. Try two paracetamol with one ibuprofen. You can combine these safely. |

Hot water bottle , painkillers. I find exercise helps whereas just staying still seems to worsen it.
I'm lucky I've never suffered that badly really since I was a teen. If it's really bad, might be worth seeing your GP.
I've heard acupuncture can help too.

"Change your profile to TG and you'll find you never have it, unless you need an excuse not to meet someone and your well of creativity is temporarily low. It worked for me "
Ahhhhhhhhh of course.
Spiffing idea there Tina.
I'm thinking mirena coil might well be for me. Thank you.
I'm a wimp with pain I admit it.
Exercise is a good thing I agree.
I can't take ibuprofen sadly.
I'll go for a cycle and buy a chocolate cake too.
Thank you for your kind replies.
You're lovely! |

I get it really bad too never used to until I had my twins and I carrying it all in my lower back where I had the mobile epidural with them, I didn't really want it but it was strongly advised due to complications with labouring multiples and in end I had many complications so was relieved I had it even though I suffer for it now
It gets so bad it does literally cripples me at times and I struggle to walk never found anything that helps |

You can also take codeine with paracetamol. If you ofset them you can be taking pain relief every 3 hours. |

What strength codeine though?
If it was prescribed it was probably stronger than the over the counter stuff.
Over the counter cocodamol is 500mg paracetamol and 8mg codeine per tablet/caplet and you can take up to 2 at a time.
Prescription doses are often higher.
What's the problem with ibuprofen, if it's not a personal question? Might you be able to take it if you also took omeprazole (to help protect your stomach)? It might be worth asking your GP about. |

Feminax worked for me back when my periods were painful but it did make me really drowsy.
These days they don't hurt as much but my mood a week before my period is so foul I had to go to the Dr about it after nearly having a fight with a woman in a car park |

I've had different strengths including over the counter and I'm not laughing when I say I go do lally in various ways.
Sometimes it's quite mild but it's unpleasant enough.
Ibuprofen gives me hives.
A weird thing I know!

A hysterectomy cured all my period related problems.
Which anti-inflammatories have you tried?
Have you seen a gynaecologist about it,or your gp to rule out any medical problems that could be causing it?

Mine was the strongest pain killers I could find and as many I was allowed to take, coupled with a hot water bottle.
Some chocolate for comfort and that was about it. |

I'm bent over in agony and nothing helps.

I used to take Feminax, stay comfy and cosy til worst of pain was over, avoid salt, caffeine, sugary or spicy food, relax and do something else you enjoy to take your mind off
Don't miss 'em one bit *hugs |

"If your Doc says you're clear of medical reasons causing this, ask about the Mirena Coil - 5 years - no periods! Message if you want to discuss further "
The Mirena coil only stops menstruation in about 85% of women. So it doesn't work for everyone but it has helped thousands! |

feminax now contains naproxen, but is very expensive as an over the counter brand..ask your doc if you can take it as it, he should prescribe generic naproxen to you ..usually start taking it a couple of days before youre due on..its pretty effective, but ask for omeprazole as well, also extortionate over the counter! |

Seriously, OP, try the Mirena. It has worked for many people I know. Having everything whipped out is a tad drastic if you don't need to.

When I was younger I took Feminax.
I found a few years ago that sitting with my legs drawn up as close to my chest as possible, clasping my hands under my knees and gently rocking back and forward for about ten minutes got rid of the pain altogether.
Sounds weird but it worked
I haven't taken Feminax since. |
