so, i have signed up for a challenge to run 100 miles in August....get a nice medal with the olympic rings on it

it works out to about 3.24 miles a day and so far i am just .50 miles behind target (i know its only the 3rd of the month haha).

the bad thing is i have been running in new trainers since saturday and after 2 runs today (3.5 miles this morning before work and 2.5 miles at lunchtime) i have a massive blister!!!

going to swap to my old trainers tomorrow and put a blister plaster on it and see how i go.

will be posting my progress on here each day (if i remember) and will show you the medal when i get it

I hate running, although saying that I knocked over a minute off my mile yesterday. I prefer lifting weights or obstacle mud runs.

Keep at it Eve. Try rubbing vasalene into your feet before you run. You find it helps.

My girlfriend's signed up for it, it's a cracking medal. A lot of her club did the July challenge and the fitness gains were noticable.

We're off to Wales for a short holiday and to do Race The Train in a couple of weeks and have had to plan some additional runs in to the trip to keep her on track for the 100 miles!

Try cycling. Apparently 90 rpm is equivalent to a good marathon pace...

I've got a bad back so stopped running and jumped on the bike...

Still early days but better for your joints...

You shouldn;t burst them but using a needle to drain them is fine

Either a small hole to drain them, or if they're really big I thread them.

Good on you.. It sounds like a fantastic challenge.

Whenever I've had blisters from running or whatever else I've always popped them with a pin and squeezed them out so the skin stays intact and they dry up quicker. It seems to make them much less sensitive a lot faster too in my experience.

I wish you the best of luck with the rest of your challenge.

Haha that's me thinking mountain again..

That little steam engine and railway in tywyn. Went on it when I was a kid. Am sure ivor the engine illustration from the 70s early 80s was based on that very station and line. Memories

Very impressive keep going x

I know it's a little late for advice but make sure you have some good running socks as they do make a difference with blisters, and that your laces are tied properly as daft as it sounds. Did you get fitted for your new trainers as they shouldn't of caused you too much trouble?

Parkrun #102 today which was tough. hot even in the woods and legs feeling very tired thanks to the sudden increase in mileage this week, hope that will sort itself out next week as they get used to it!

oooh havent updated for a few days!!

currently at 66.5 miles for the month. feeling it this week, had a bad couple of runs and so had a rest day today. Parkrun and a bit tomorrow then 2 days of no running!!!

a couple of you have messaged privately to ask if i am raising money and some real life people have asked too and i have finally decided to raise money for Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance in memory of a friend who passed away earlier this year.

i was going to do a 35 mile bike ride with some friends for him this month but it got postponed (which is good cos i did no training and didnt have a bike!!).

If anyone would like to donate please PM me and i will give you my just giving info.

Also, if anyone is on strava and wants to have a new friend let me know

ok, so now i am at 84 miles....the end is in sight and i am slightly more than knackered!!!

did parkrun today with my dad. A mixture of emotions as w found out yesterday one of the founding members of Worcester parkrun and a much loved volunteer passed away yesterday but it was so lovely to see so many people and to share such lovely memories about her.

On to tomorrow's Pershore Plum 10k and then off to Kent for cakeathon on Monday....gonna smash this 100 miles!!!

dont forget, if you want to sponsor me drop me a PM and i will send you the link x

And so it is done!!

Hit the 100 mark yesterday but chucked a cheeky treadmill mile on top for good measure today as I was down the gym playing netball but it was a short session lol

Its been tough and I am knackered!! Battled massive blisters, potential bursitis in my hip and calves so sore I'd punch you if you so much as looked at them but I have to say I am incredibly chuffed with myself!!

My amazing friends and family have been so supportive and a few have helped me through some miles. I have raised over £130 so far for the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire air ambulance in memory of my friend who passed away earlier this year which is amazing given I only decided a couple of weeks ago to get sponsorship.

Will show off my medal when it comes
