No, the data are not being analysed by an American company. The data are held and analysed by our Office of National Statistics. What you've heard about is that a subsidiary of an American firm won the contract for tracking the addresses that have and haven't returned their forms, and then sub-contracted that job out to an English company. Some people of ill-will have interpreted that as meaning that "an American company is runing the Census". |

Or to summarise, the usual Conspiracy Theory bullshit. |

If this country blows the funding needed to send people round 7 million doors, it deserves to be walled up and concreted over.
The census was an absolute fucking joke. The cover page essentially threatened you into filling it in with tones of bullshit legality.
The whole thing was handled like a fucking african coup. Alls they needed were machetes. |

The Government DOES NOT run the Census - it's run by the Office of National Statistics which reports directly and only to a Parliamentary Comittee (there is a diffeence between that and governemnt, if you care to look and study the constitution of the UK).
Shops and credit card companies already store more info about you than the Census requests. The info from the Census is used to save £millions in planning - for example, do you need a 6-lane highway in Inverness? - or lots of primary schools in areas with older-than average populations? etc., etc. The summary data is available to anyone - academics, economists, population medical research people, critics and supporters of the governemnt of the day.
And comparing the Census to people being massacred with machetes like in the Congo is AT BEST IN BAD TASTE AND AT WORST TOTALLY DELUDED. |
