Verifications triggering emotional response

I have read, time after time about someone getting let down but then reading a verification the next day on the other person's profile, which most assume means they met someone else instead, the dirty rotter!

But surely, whilst this is a possibility, the verification could have been left on that day but relating to a completely different time? Personally, I never leave instant verifications, for discretional reasons. So, I ignore exact dates for that reason. I'd also leave out what happened. It's about verifying the person is genuine, not a report from the teacher or a CV for future employment.

What do you think? Should we not automatically assume the meet happened as soon as the verification is left?
