Where are some good recommended interesting venues for a London social meet? I'd like to learn some new places, so where do you think is good?
If you're not London-based then please educate me on somewhere good in your area, so I can explore further afield!  |

Depends on what you're after, OP:
* a good bar
* a good eaterie
* parkland
* architecture
* galleries, museums or something otherwise culturally stimulating
* somewhere unusual...?
...as I always say of London, if you can't find what you're looking for, you're not trying hard enough.

Depends on what you're after, OP:
* a good bar
* a good eaterie
* parkland
* architecture
* galleries, museums or something otherwise culturally stimulating
* somewhere unusual...?
...as I always say of London, if you can't find what you're looking for, you're not trying hard enough.

A fair point! Love London, and I've my list of places for all the above. It's good to hear new ones that people recommend tho. People passing on little jewelled delights they've unearthed. |

Pick a local authority and then look up the guided walks for that area. There's usually something.
There's the London Black History Walks that take you back to Tudor London through to the present day.
Look up the National Trust properties in London and you will find everything from manor houses to pub.

The back streets of East London!
Lots of tiny pubs and eateries.
Parks, parks, parks a plenty.
(In summer)
In the Winter I love Canary Wharf for the restaurants and Southbank!
Actually so many places it's crazy! |

Ooooh it is exciting isn't it?! I seem to go through a discovery spate and then settle into a period of frequenting (rooting in) the new ones until they're old ones and then wanderlust sets in again. I'm all about living, discovery and the new right now. |

The Novelty Automation exhibition in Holborn is something a bit different and left field. It's a collection of weird and wonderful end of pier style arcade machines.
Also for a great view over the city the sky garden at the walkie talkie building is worth a look.
Pub wise The George on Borough High Street is very historic and is very close to Borough Market which is great for food.

I'd deffo recommend areas East London like Harlot said.
Areas of Shoreditch and Hoxton.....Child hood museum in Bethnal Green.....Brick Lane.....Victoria Park.....Olympic site etc in Stratford.....Great independent cinemas.....A little further out you have Romford Market |

This is the exact reason I love London. It's such a heterogenous city with lots of hidden gems.
Whenever I've taken dates, I theme the day depending on what they like. I know so many great places.
I try to go to off-the-track quirky places.
Generally, Soho and streets behind Oxford circus have pretty decent eateries. Nice bars around KingsX/Bloomsbury and Liverpool street.
I used to take dates to the Paramount skyBar, but that's closed now

The new roof garden on top of canary wharlf cross rail station, then pop into the "big easy" for a superb £20 lobster + live music most nights
The 7th floor cocktail bar at citizen m hotel at Tower Hill station - super views
Boisdale at canary wharf Sunday lunch with jazz band
Greenwich market on your list already, but get the boat, a gin and tonic sit out the back of the boat with no pants on
La boudoir swingers club on a Saturday night near citizen M

Comedy club is a great idea. Lots around and lots of pretty famous comedians gig around smaller spots |
