oddbins have gone into administration.....does not leave many wineshops round now, let me think majestic, winehouse, peckhams and that may be the only ones on the high street that specialise in fine fines |

I went balistic in Sainsburys a couple of years ago they offered a 1/2 price CHampagne. I looked for it and couldn;t find one. The guy said 'there's a Cava, it's the same....................
It turned out they had advertised the offer too soon.
I wrote to head office and was sent a case of their Blanc de Blanc as an apology |

You will never win with the Supermarkets.
Went on M&S online and they had red wine for £3.00 a bottle.
Was a typo error, shouldve been £8.00 a bottle, which I knew if course.
All I got back was my cash no apology, teats.
Sorry but you get nothing cheap these days x |

I mentioned the Oddbins issue a couple of days ago.
You're right - it leaves a big gap, especially in the fine wine and spirits sector, but Oddbins has (had) a big corporate account base and I'd like to think someone - maybe Peckhams (a sleeping giant if ever there was one) would be in the frame for a takeover. |

"get yourself over to france lots cheaper and the choice and quality is second to none"
Lots cheaper at the plonk end but once you get a wee bit upmarket the costs of transport begin to close the gap between buying closer to source and buying, when available, on the High Street.
What astonishes me is how the Aussie can ship such quality to the UK from such a distance. |
