What surprises people about you

1. That I've never even tried a cig or taken drugs....people seem to think being a drummer and been in some pretty heavy bands means living the rock n roll lifestyle.
2. I'm quite the artist when it comes to furniture, upholstery, painting, gilding...I even surprise myself sometimes  |

People ask for id gets ridiculous...I went to buy a 15 DVD....bearing in mind I was wearing a t shirt so all my tattoos were showing, I then give him my drivers license which you need to be 17 to have.....he then spends the next minute or so working out that I'm actually over 15  |

I think what surprises a lot of people who bother to take the time to get to know me is that I'm not actually that dumb, and I am capable of holding an interesting conversation. Even though I may do a job that even a wizened chimp could handle with ease, I've actually got a bit of a brain on me. A lot of the time I tend to hide my light under a big old bushel but if you get to know me I will surprise you. There's way more to me than meets the eye. |

That I am shy,but i do open up eventually, been told many times that I look like i was in my 20's and almost looking shocked or surprised when I tell them,plus I can be non chatty in crowded rooms and sometimes I think people think I'm stand offish im not |

(Got another today, spent 3 hours retrieving a very small straggly kitten from a rabbit hole this evening) but no 1 who's know me 5 minutes is ever going to be suprised by that! |

People at work (who started months after me) cant believe that when i initially started i was extremely quiet, as in youd get one word answers if anything most of the time. However in new situations/ meeting new people I can be very shy.
also a couple of girls i work with refused to believe that i am 27 and not 18. Had to show my driving license to prove it |

That sounds like the time I got asked for ID in a petrol station at motorway services when I went to buy cigs about ten years ago.....
I had also put fuel in, in MY car!?!?! On the MOTORWAY!! Isn't like we walked there!!
Their logic? My mate and I were wearing school uniform! We were going to a party on a Saturday night!!?!?!

It used to be my age. Alas, the fine lines are now creeping in. People now seemed surprised when I tell them my occupation. Haven't a clue why, women gardeners aren't unusual. |
