Non illigitamus carborundum
My uncle used to work for a company called Carborundum in Rainford, Lancs......so quite fitting.
I'm sure you fellow forumites are wise enough to know the meaning! |

"What's yours?
If it wasn't already taken mine would be 'Nemo me impune lacessit'.
Clown fish I wont tell you off for wearing elasticated pumps ?"
'Nobody strikes me with impunity'
Or as I like to put it:
'No-one hurts me and gets away with it.' |

Much as I hate to be a pedant (and I do), the word 'illigitamus' isn't a latin word, the word for b&*%tard is 'nothus'. So 'don't let the b%&*tards grind you down would rather be 'Noli nothis permittere te terere.' ...carbrundorum is one of those 'dog latin' thingys.
Damn my classical education |

Yep. It's pig latin, which is why you can write it a number of ways....
A carborundum stone is a grindstone, it just sounds "latin".
Its a WW2 joke. |

Follow me, lead me or get out of my way"
