It's not a free Fab upgrade, but the free Windows 10 upgrade. This free upgrade for 7 and 8 users is ending imminently.
There is a major upgrade coming as well next week, with the anniversary update, which adds new features and improves upon it too.
The free upgrade ends tomorrow - July 29th. So consider whether you'd like to take advantage of it. It's much improved since its launch time, a year ago. I can honestly say that I think it's awesome. |

I upgraded my laptop to 10 a while back. Worse mistake I ever made IT wise. I'm back to using 8 after finally figuring how to get rid of the crap.
The only thing it does properly is give all your info to Microsoft. Nowt but a spy tool! |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
"I hate that 10 is so insistent that you sync everything you own! Could lead to some major red faces and explaining. "
I just turned that off. I refuse to sync things. Google tries to do it too.

After I upgraded to Win10 - It took a while to get used to.
The sync'ing issue I got around because I don't link my accounts anywhere with my phone [old model/no internet on it].
I don't like some things - the 'menu-fed everything' annoys me. I cannot have the Clock/Calendar on my desktop that I reallllllly love.
I hate Windows Edge!!! It is a total pain, which won't close-down when instructed!!!!
It does seem to have speeded up my system which is also an older model and was groaning under Win7.
I would NEVER go to Win8 after having to deal with it's painful delivery on machines I had to use at work.
Overall, I will live with Win10 - until I can replace my Technology in the Autumn :-/

You can control which privacy settings are active and communicate anything about your use.
Users up until now have had the opportunity to return to their previous version of Wndows - I'm guessing that's the cae if users upgrade on the final day when it's free.
I've been using some of the next features that are launched next week - and it does become a major improvement again.
For those who are wondering whether to upgrade - I'd definitely encourage you to do so. It will be around for much longer than 7 or 8. It seems to have got much of the best things from both of those systems but has improved upon them and is more secure. I've not had a single problem in a year and use it on several systems. |

Win 7 awesome. Win 8 ignore. Win 10 very good..and like it or not the future...the good ship windows 10 has sailed..be on it..or you will ultimately be sunk when other versions are scuttled by microsoft.
Do it now..or pay for it tomorrow (almost literally) |

My pc is on 7 but tried to upgrade constantly. My lappie is on 10 and I use that to access the pc info so don't sync it.
But even my tele synced all my media the other day Took ages to figure out that it's impossible to disable. |

All the machines in our house run Windows 10. All of them have the sync options disabled and all work fine.
If you do install or upgrade just make sure you dont just do a default install - doing this means you tell Microshaft everything however just take your time read the pages and say no to most options and you will be fine.
If you dont want it to sync do not link it to your Hotmail/Outlook/Live account just say you want to use a local account - not easy to see but it is there on setup.
Windows 10 is less hardware hungry than 7/8/8.1 so should breath some new life in to older PCs.
I think it will cost £99 per home license after today if you dont take the free option. Please consider it as apparently this is their last operating system and eventually you will have to move to it.
If you do want some help or advice please feel free to contact me via PM - I am a nerd by profession so am generally happy to help.
