Just wondering if any of you fitness people can share some motivation tips for getting exercising

Want to start running again but just can't seem to get my head in gear

Was up to 10k last year so know I can do it. Just can't seem to take the first step (pun intended lol)

Any help much appreciated

The only answer is to find an activity you genuinely enjoy doing otherwise it wont be sustainable.

Set a routine, watch your calorie intake andcwhen you start to see results that's when the real motivation kicks in.

Unfortunately you just have to push through until you can see the benefits.

I find it's easier if you do it with someone else. I ran regularly with a club and found the fact that someone expected unto show up helped. It's also good to have someone to talk to/motivate you while exercising.

You're going to hate me but....action first....motivation after.

The more you do the more you'll want to. Small achievable goals. Ride out the first few weeks desire to quit and you're on your way. Good luck.

It's more about routine and lifestyle for me.

Why be fat and ugly. Just be ugly

For me exercise is not just a way of keeping fit but can also recharge me mentally. I bit of down time from my daily worries. All I think about is the workout I am doing for an hour or so. I find that motivates me to get started.

People seem to use jogging as the go to exercise but it can get pretty boring if you're not into it, most give up pretty quickly. There are normally loads of cheap enough classes in local gyms for all levels and the motivation is provided by the instructors. They can get you through the first few weeks and then you can go do your own thing be it cycling hill walking/running etc. Personally I try to do up to three different things per week as I know I'll get bored doing the same thing. I struggle when I dot have a plan in place for about 4 weeks at a time

The real problem is finding something you enjoy enough to keep doing it. I hated running until I actually did it for a few weeks and got used to it, and pounding the streets (or hills) beats staring at the wall of a gym hands down.

I am beyond rubbish at motivating myself lately and have put a little weight on (boo hiss!!) - but a lot of it seems to have gone on my boobies (hurrah!!!!) I think my motivation could be under the bed somewhere - I don't venture there often! X

Just back into running myself.. hard to start again so got all my gear ready. Alarm set. Up early and straight out on the promise of a nice healthyish breakie for when I got back.

Started the park runs too.. really good motivation.

You need a Pooch. Lots of long walks , great exercise. What ever the weather you have to get out there and walk

It's not motivation you need its discipline

If you've done it before you can do it again, you just need to get back into the routine. Maybe try running with someone with similar goals, that way you can both push one another eg if one day one of you can't be bothered, the other will make you get your bum off the sofa!

Me personally, I prefer being in a world of my own when I teain

Go to your local parkrun, 9am Saturday morning 5km, free event. One at Bath Skyline, another at Southwick Country Park.

Register once at parkrun.org.uk/register and go as often as you can. Run, walk, jog or a mixture of all three.

There is nothing worse than exercising because you feel that you should rather than because you want to.

Find something you enjoy, make sure you have goals and rewards

You really need to find an exercise you really enjoy..get some good tempo tunes on your mp3 player.

I started an exercise class referred by the doctor..went on my own..loved it..from there tried swimming which I hadn't done for years and enjoyed it..on my own again..so joined full membership and now go between 4-5 times a week doing various different things..all on my own too. I'm by no means lean or trim..as I eat too much sometimes and I'm 3 stone into a hopefully 6 stone loss I need to achieve.. but I really enjoy what I'm doing and its not a chore to get down there and do it.

I hope you find your mojo.

Central

Start with anything and take small steps - no pun intended. And repeat as often as you can.

Enrol others to join you who would be motivated.

Ensure that you lose little from your current life status quo, so it's not resisted.

Have goal rewards.
