Conditioner then shampoo?
Jump to: Newest in thread
It's fine for limp, lank hair if you want more body, but most people need to condition after shampooing and those with limp lank hair as above shouldn't do it every time they wash as ultimately it will dry out the hair. |

Saw thison the advert the other day. Ain't tried it, I've ran out of conditionerand keep forgetting to buy it, so my hair's all kinky and won't do as it's told at the minute. |

My hair is so thick and wavy. I only shampoo about twice a week - Usually I only put conditioner in it when I shower. Every two weeks I put leave in conditioner in after my shower. Otherwise it's a tangley mess.
So I'll keep doing it my way. I've experimented a lot and this is what works for me. |

Is it a ploy to sell more conditioner? A good shampoo would remove it, so sounds like minimal benefit.
I've seen some olive oil products marketed with a dubious name on TV this week.
I don't condition that often as I prefer a reasonably natural hair. |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I saw this somewhere a couple of months ago and tried it for a week. I had more of the frizzier bits than usual and it was hard to get the brush through my hair. So returned to the tried and tested shampoo and then conditioner.

"I have never used conditioner in my life.
Am I missing something ?"
We don't miss what we don't know. Use a bit of Mrs. P's next time and then decide, but your hair looks just fine the way it is. Although, I've never run my hands through your hair so it might feel hard. |

"Buy a water softer, eliminate the need for conditioner.
Did I mention I sell water softeners...
How do you use this x"
Its a unit that fits to the mains, takes all the horrible stuff out the water before it gets into the house and you have lovely soft water. |

"I hear we are being told to condition and then shampoo our hair??
Whats your thoughts? Guessing the ladies may know!"
Conditioner is oil, shampoo is soap.
Soap removes oil.
Sounds stupid |

but conditioner is there to replace the oil excessively removed by the shampoo.
So water skftness or hardness wont affect that need.
Think of it like cleaning out a bearing you scrub it all clean remove all the old dirty degraded grease, if you dont repack it with some good new stuff it's not gonna last long when you put it back

I only shampoo my scalp not the length of my hair, as the scalp is the bit that needs washing the length is normally fine.
Rinse.
Them condition the length not the scalp, leave in while I wash the rest of me, them rinse.
Finally some Argan Oil on the tips after towel drying to help with split ends and the dry frizz I get after washing |

I've been shampooing and then conditioning for over 30 years. I'm not about to change it now. I'm old and set in my ways. |

That's the correct way to wash your hair!
But as I said earlier if you have fine, limp, lank hair conditioning then shampooing occasionally will probably be successful, at least in the short term. |

Is this why my hair is so different on holiday when I've washed it? |
