There's not just one, you'll have to split this to genres.
Comedy: The Money Pit
Sci-Fi: Star Wars
Action: Lethal Weapon/Bad Boys
Horror: Evil Dead
Musical: Grease/Singin in the Rain
Drama: Schindlers List
Actually there's tonnes of bloody movies and can't really narrow it to just one. |

All the Tremors films are great. 
My personal favourite film is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

So many to choose, so little inclination to think it through too deeply right now 
One film I know it isn't and massively overrated in my humble opinion "Citizen Kane".
Forever being told it's a classic so actually finally set out to watch it a few years back and turned off half way through as it just wasn't doing it for me. |

Fave comedy - Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
Fave teen movie - Heathers.
Fave animated film - either Nightmare Before Christmas or Beauty & The Beast.
Fave series - Harry Potter.
Fave superhero - Hellboy.
Fave musical - Rocky Horror or Chitth Chitty Bang Bang or Sound Of Music.
Fave horror - Poltergeist.
Fave family film - Stardust or School Of Rock.
Fave all round (cast, soundtrack, script) - True Romance. |

Star Wars - Kicked started the sci-fi blockbuster
Planet of the Apes - First one with Heston...and the shocking end twist.
Shawshank Redemption - Superb acting and another twist at the end.
Alien - Horror and sci-fi at it's best.
Spinal Tap - Rock music and humour!
The Untouchables - Gangsters and the bad guys lose!
Good the Bad and the Ugly - Perfect western. |

Casablanca - it has everything cool guys, hot women & great dialogue.
If you every want a bit of fun count how many drinks the police chief orders while at the cafe. Never gets to drink any of them.
