I haven't personally been offended that you find people like me a turn off, I learned years ago that I'm not everyone's perfect woman . Considering the amount of hair on my head, I really don't have a lot of fuzz down below which in itself is a bit of a surprise but in my younger years I used to be horribly anal (scuse the pun) about the tidiness down there. As I've aged I give less of a toss about it.
What I can say is that I've been caught unaware that sex was on the cards on a number of occasions and I've yet to come across anyone (literally or otherwise!) who has stopped mid shag to say 'omg... you've not shaved!!'

Despite being very pale skinned and freckly I'm another dark haired 'hairy' woman (I blame the Spanish blood on my dad's side) ... or at least I would be if I left it alone. I do 'prefer' to be hair free but there's no getting away from the fact it's immensely time consuming and often painful to remove it, plus, as mentioned upthread you do have to be a contortionist to ensure you get it all. I love the look and feel of being smooth but I have long questioned how much my 'preference' for being hair free is down to purely my own personal taste and how much it's down to the expectations and preferences of other people and my willingness - or not - to present myself 'au naturel'.
Fact is ... and I'm not saying this is right, at all ... but 'hairy' women are often ridiculed. Just look at how the tabloids leap on any female celebrity who dares not to shave her armpits, and I've seen and heard first hand the sniggers directed at a woman who had the temerity to turn up at the swimming pool with hairy legs. There's such a huge general pressure on women to be non hairy in public I think we end up getting a distorted view of what's 'normal' because we see so little hair on anyone else ... and if and when we do grow it for whatever reason we then compare ourselves very unfavourably with those who keep the removal regime up.
It therefore takes a confident and self assured woman to effectively say this is me, take me or leave me, and I genuinely admire those who feel able to do that ... I categorically would never criticise that decision either. I'm just not yet brave enough to join you though and so in the meantime I'll just continue to wrestle with my frustration at the time spent removing hair vs society's expectations and my own confidence.

What you say is very true.
I decided to no longer care one day about 20 years ago when I was at the swimming pool with a friend of mine who was very hairy and heard women sniggering about her "hairy minge". I told them she was a friend of mine and they shut up but I looked at them and thought "what a bunch of small minded bullies" why the hell would I give any credence to their opinion of me. Of course I groom to my and Mr Ns preference and that must have outside influences on it but I think we are all more content if we accept ourselves and don't seek the acceptance of other people too often |

I I will present myself however I wish and I don't put out demands for who ever chooses to meet me.

When I was a lot younger I didn't wear any make up, at a conference a man felt it his duty to tell me I would look much better if I did and another man took me to one side and asked me if I would sleep with him that night. It was a lesson in pleasing yourself not other people and made me realise that other people's opinions on how I look vary so much I might as well only pay attention to the good ones. |

I have a very small amount of hair in that area. I also have some soft downy hair at the bottom of my bum cheeks. I also have hairy arms and hairy big toes!! Crikey I'm a gruffalo |

I can see what you're getting at but I was thinking more from the body shaming angle. Just how we're capable of making people feel like they're doing something wrong or making them feel like weirdos simply for having something that is totally natural.
When I was a lot younger I didn't wear any make up, at a conference a man felt it his duty to tell me I would look much better if I did and another man took me to one side and asked me if I would sleep with him that night. "Despite being very pale skinned and freckly I'm another dark haired 'hairy' woman (I blame the Spanish blood on my dad's side) ... or at least I would be if I left it alone. I do 'prefer' to be hair free but there's no getting away from the fact it's immensely time consuming and often painful to remove it, plus, as mentioned upthread you do have to be a contortionist to ensure you get it all. I love the look and feel of being smooth but I have long questioned how much my 'preference' for being hair free is down to purely my own personal taste and how much it's down to the expectations and preferences of other people and my willingness - or not - to present myself 'au naturel'.
Fact is ... and I'm not saying this is right, at all ... but 'hairy' women are often ridiculed. Just look at how the tabloids leap on any female celebrity who dares not to shave her armpits, and I've seen and heard first hand the sniggers directed at a woman who had the temerity to turn up at the swimming pool with hairy legs. There's such a huge general pressure on women to be non hairy in public I think we end up getting a distorted view of what's 'normal' because we see so little hair on anyone else ... and if and when we do grow it for whatever reason we then compare ourselves very unfavourably with those who keep the removal regime up.
It therefore takes a confident and self assured woman to effectively say this is me, take me or leave me, and I genuinely admire those who feel able to do that ... I categorically would never criticise that decision either. I'm just not yet brave enough to join you though and so in the meantime I'll just continue to wrestle with my frustration at the time spent removing hair vs society's expectations and my own confidence.

There is a whole industry designed around making women as hair free as possible and somewhere along the line this has been equated with hygiene.
I've only got this far down the thread and what is being described as a personal preference has comments about 'it's not asking too much to shave' and 'it's cleaner and my hygienic'.
That sort of message conveys that those of us who don't shave are a) lazy and b) dirty.
I accept it's some people's preference but there is judgmental language used.
