And on the radio show you also get given The Bible and the Complete Works of Shakespeare.

Could use The Bible for kindling, I suppose?

"How long am i going to be on this island ? 8 songs ? Jeez going to take some thought "

The following is just for info - please ignore if you know this. Just thought it might not have been heard of in the States.

Desert Island Discs is a radio programme on one of the BBC radio channels here. It's been going many years (50?). Celebrities and interesting people e.g. authors.

It's a great, easy-paced programme that often reveals interesting information about the person. I'm sure the entire archive is now available (on the BBC website?).

I loved Noel Gallagher's last year. I'm not a fan of his music, but he is a funny guy, who is way more intellugent than he lets on.

Mine:

Curtis Mayfield - the Makings of You

New Order - True Faith

Sparklehorse - More Yellow Birds

Brahms - How Lovely Are Thy Dwellings Fair (from the German Requiem)

The Beach Boys - Surf's Up

Esther Phillips - Home is Where The Hatred Is

DJ Shadow - Midnight in a Perfect World

Nina Simone - My Father

Book: Gabriel Garcia Marquez - Love in the Time of Cholera

Luxury Item: a piano

Oh, enjoy!

I've seen him a couple of times. I enjoyed it, but what I'd really love to see is him playing a DJ set - a bunch of records from his own collection, as opposed to re-interpreting his own tracks.

It sometimes just felt like listening to the album really, really loud!

Sure he'll be great though. That first album is brilliant.

You're in the US - not surprising you've not heard of it! Nothing to be embarrassed about!

It's an institution here in the UK.

The archives are well worth a listen.
