I had one of these sessions last week & cant wait to go back.
It is a weird sensation at first but once you relax it is a great feeling & your feet are so soft afterwards.
My hubby sat watching & cringing as he can't stand his feet touched.
He put his hand in & not 1 fish went near it lol

I'm tempted but not happy with the set up of the ones who are offering the service in my area as its carried out in full view of passers by and Im not overly keen of being a side show when having a treatment carried out. Nobody would have their biff waxed in the shop window..... more privacy and I'd give it a go! |

No one has said the real name of this, its called a "Gurra Rufa fish pedicure" if you wanted to do a search for it.
Its a great thing to have done and would recommend it to anyone, usually 15 or 30 minute's with the fish then a member of staff will do toe nails, polish etc. Cost is around £25-45 depending on which option you take |

Need to hurry up before 'elfen safety' puts the mockers on it. This from the BBC;
"The treatment involves dunking the feet in tanks filled with Garra rufa fish that can nibble away dead skin.
The Health Protection Agency is concerned this could spread diseases from person to person through open wounds.
It was first contacted by worried environmental health officers.
Feet feeders
A Health Protection Agency spokesperson said: "Following a number of enquiries to the HPA from local environmental health officers over the past six months, the agency is currently investigating if there are any potential risks of infection associated with the commercial use of fish spa pedicures in the UK.
"Alongside colleagues in environmental health, Health Protection Scotland and the Health and Safety Laboratory, the HPA will examine the most up to date evidence of any possible risks associated with Garra rufa fish pedicures and will publish guidelines that will be available UK-wide.
"The HPA and Health Protection Scotland is currently unaware of any cases of infection associated with the use of the fish spas pedicures in the UK."
Tiny Garra Rufa fish, or "doctor fish" as they are affectionately called, are a type of toothless carp that nibble on the dead skin.
Their use in spas across the UK has been gaining in popularity.
In the US, however, some states have banned their use over health and safety concerns of having the same fish clean the skin of multiple customers". |

The one i go to, you have a foot spa and foot massage first, she checks your feet. The tank is automatically cleaned seven times an hour, plus emptied and tank made sterile every day. Id sooner go there than a swimming pool |

The one I went to today is the same
How many people make comments about the Jacuzzi's in clubs. I'm sure much worse things than dead skin are floating around in them |

"Oh so we need individual swimming pools, saunas, jacuzzi's in clubs"
Yes but they have chemicals in dont they, to kill bacteria, you cant put chlorine in a tank full of fish. |

There is no hard and fast evidence from the Health Protection Agency on the risk of infection via the Garra Rufa fish therapy at the moment. Just be sensible really, go to a reputable spa where the treatment is carried out and the tanks are cleaned regularly, rather than in the middle of a big shopping area |

"Have to say i wouldnt go to one of those shopping centre ones, ever. Ive also seen some advertised from £5 which would also make me dubious. "
They use piranhas and barracudas. Clean your skin right down to the bone |

So what they could do is have the fish work in shifts with little name tags on their tailfins...... then you can catch your own from a fresh holding tank. I'll have Kevin and Norman and Ellie and Dave and and......... cue fishing net .... |
