Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I had a fabulous day at work today as I was paid to chat over afternoon tea in one of the most expensive hotels in London.
As I don't drink tea the staff acted extra concerned for my welfare and kept offering me extra cakes (which I refused).
I've lured you in with a title and a ramble about afternoon tea but the real question is, what's the best thing you've been paid to do (legal and within site rules, please)?

"I got paid to take clients to see Kasabien a few years back "
That's a good one.
I used to get the perks of a friend's company having a box at O2 and although I wasn't being paid to be there I did chat to clients to make them feel at home. |

I got paid once to go on a boat ride around the NYC watershed. It was part of a day trip I had at one of my previous jobs.
I also got paid to go to a bbq at Gracie Mansion held by the mayor of NYC. |

"I'm so disappointed
Why?
I got all excited about having afternoon tea. "
There was a very wide selection of tea on offer. You would have liked it there. Edwardian drawing room feel, with a gilted ceiling and crystal chandeliers offset by beautifully liveried waiters. |

Now I'm just jealous. That sounds delightful. |

Whilst doing my dream job in Mallorca a few years back, I was paid to take clients out on a catamaran cruise every Sunday .. all the food you could eat and beer you could drink.. I tell you, it was a tough gig |

"I frequently get paid at work to taste test food menus and wine lists, it's a tough job "
I like it when I do those too. Sometimes I think we need to organise an event just so that the caterers all come in on different days of the week at lunchtime. |

Weren't you required to remain sober and in charge? I would probably feel seasick but it sounds like you enjoyed it.

"Best thing I have ever done was doe free and that's puppy walk for guide dogs.
So paid wise it would be looking after disabled children. Hard work bur worth it. "
Now you've put me to shame. Yours is properly worthwhile and with no perks other than the reward of the work itself.
Keep enjoying your work and I hope someone throws you a perk just for the hell of it.

"I was mislead! Here I was ready to talk about a Caribbean afternoon tea I had. X"
Tell me about your Caribbean afternoon tea. I didn't think we had one, unless it's something rum based. |

I think the best thing I've ever done while I've worked and been paid to do it is go to the seaside with my residents at the home I worked in once and go to one of their Christmas parties that the local lions club did one year!! What's nicer than eating food, bad Cabaret and dancing!!

"I get fed a lot and get to eat for free in a lot of fancy bars & restaurants
We have some lovely, if demanding, clients
It all helps to keep you in shape.
"
That shape being round |
