Any fans of Gothic architecture should have a nosey around the Grand Midlands/St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London.
The cocktail bar is excellent and they do tours.

Or the Palace of Westminster/Parliament - which is free to get into and open to the public but be prepared for a thorough security screening on the way in.

The art gallery over from the library is well worth a visit (lovely little Turner hidden away in there). And the the IWM North is also worth a visit even if only for its modernist architectural styling. |

First went to listen to the Halle when I was 16 summer 72, they were still in the Free Trade Hall then. Still go, but not as much as I would like. You should go to the afternoon concerts if you can, generally you can get a ticket on the door without booking. You should also give the RNCM Monday afternoon recitals a try (they are free, turn up and listen to the next generation of concert musicians). |
