Not my thing. Here way too many stores of shocking bike handling. It's not my idea of fun to ride 100 miles hoping not to be taken out by sone idiot who doesn't know the limits of their own bike handling skills and/or has no idea how to ride in a bunch |

I registered this year but yet again failed to get a place. Hope I'm more fortunate next year as it looks a great day.
I'm hoping that I get a spot on the Vatternrunden ride in Sweden next year too.
Hope all those riding have a great day and hit their goal times |

I only had the idea put back into my mind on Sunday by a guy I met and chatted to doing a charity ride who is doing ride London for the 3rd time.
Sounds brilliant and I know I'd love to do it and would really enjoy it. |

"
Anyone else in London for the Ride100 Sportive at the end of the month?"
I did it in 2013 and 2015 but didn't get in this year. I've just come back from France after watching some of the TDF and cycling up Mont Ventoux. You'll enjoy it. It's really well organised and a fantastic achievement. Good luck. |

"We have some fantastic country side in the UK, why do people have to insist on running, cycling etc round London..."
Generally they don't. Ride London is based on the Olympic road race course. The London marathon is one of the world's biggest marathons and many cities around the world host marathons.
Outside of these events, the London triathlon and a handful of much smaller half marathons and bike races pretty much no one travels to London to run or ride. But those who live there have little choice |

Following on from that post, even as a cyclist I'm not overy convinced the huge disruption Ride London causes for people.living in London and Surrey can be justified. |

Unfortunately when you add protest marches etc, it becomes a real pain if you have to try and drive round London at weekends...
It means having to come into work hours earlier or getting home hours late to try and get round road closures... |

Set your own pace, avoid the bunches. It happens at every large group ride, even the skilled rider gets it wrong.
I hope to do it 1 year. |

Unless you have to carry large items there's no reason to drive in central London. (I used to do shop deliveries, but I'd never take my own car in) These are world class mass participation sporting events, they raise the profile of London. Quit whining and get on the tube. |

When you work the hours I do, there are no trains to get you to work or home.
As I said this adds hours to my day either waiting for trains to start running or having to leave home hours earlier to get into work...
Funny how people that don't do shift work in London tell you to stop whining... |
