"I was looking at a profile, when I tried to message I couldn't as the minimum age was 27, how do people decide age limits on here?"
We picked 12 yrs either side of our ages. We can be a bit flexible though so haven't stopped older or younger people from sending messages. We just wouldn't be keen on someone who is young enough to be our child or old enough to be our parent |

From experience of both social and sexual experiences in life, you know what works for you and what doesn't. Don't take it personally just peoples general preferences. |

They usually go by people they want to meet |

It was a fair question to ask, nothing about it. |

What I would feel comfortable with, its as simple as that
I always meet for a drink and a chat in public first
Would I feel comfortable being seen out with a guy who was 21, no I wouldn't

i didn't really limit mine at first, but when i realised i could shrink my inbox by using age filters i kept shrinking the age limits.
also if a certain age range pissed me off i also made it so they were not within my age ranges.
hope that makes sense. |

Think of a number, Double it, Double it again, Subtract the number you first thought of, Add six, divide by three, subtract two.
Then realise that you're back where you started and leave the default 18 to 99 in!

Makes perfect sense, what I was really wondering was how someone came to 27, rather than just saying 30! But I think shortyandcurlys awnser hit the nail on the head. |

"I tend to not be attracted to older men and I don't message first. So I move my age ranges around to lessen the messages I receive. "
I suppose it is an effective way to control the messages flooding in!! ( I could go 18_999 still 0 new msgs)?? |

That was my thought, but do you find it helps? The people who I don't want to hear from are also those who don't take much notice of what a profile says.

"Just thought about the youngest I'd go and the oldest.
Not really much thought in it. I could be missing out! "
Let the young bulls out the gate then and find out. Lol |

"TBH mine fluctuates but never goes under 40 or over 59 ...
It just depends how I'm feeling in any given day "
Do you ever have times when say only a 45 year old can contact you?

I thought about people I can comfortably feel I have stuff in common with in a real world social situation and stuck the age range around that.
Would you find lots in common with an eighteen year old and/or a ninety nine year old for example? |

"I raised the lower age limit on my profile, because of constant one-liners from randy young guys who on the whole I don't fancy. "
Me too.. that's exactly what I found to be the case as well.. Raising the minimum age has helped to filter out the the late night/early morning one liners from young men who are usually quite crude..rude and alcohol imbued.. (Plus.. as other members have also mentioned, I wouldn't feel comfortable meeting up with men or women who are younger than my own children..) xx |

We put 30 as the mimimum age, but we've been thinking about raising that higher. Basically when we meet a guy, we treat that guy like a friend. We would normally meet for drinks in a pub prior to play, some we have had dinner with, and we sometimes invite a man to our house for dinner and a play. To have that type of friendship with someone, is unrealistic if there is such a generational gap. We meet men who are similar to ourselves so that it flows socially. Secondly, time after time after time, we find it doesn't work with the younger guys who are closer to 30 than to 40. Our experience is that the more mature men are better in tune with what we are looking for and have a better understanding of the psychology. |
