So many I have met have no idea about the game. I guess they just play it because others are.
Now I can't bring myself phone out because I don't want to asked again if I'm looking for pokemon.
I have seen lots of people walking like zombies on the street to look something that's not lost.
So why are you playing Pokemon go? |

Lots of reasons
1. It's fun.
2. It's a harmless bit of nostalgia for a lot of people my age.
3. It's fun!!!
4. It's becoming a great way for people to get out and about, it's encouraging people to go outside and walk around.
Given we now live in a time where the current generation will be the first to earn less than the one that came before, we live in a society where young people are more likely than any other group in society to be living in poverty, where salary for those in the 20-30 age bracket still hasn't recovered to pre-recession levels, not to mention the current political situation and global security issues... Is it any wonder people want to hark back to a time when the toughest thing you had to deal with was trying to catch an imaginary monster?!

I don't get it!! Took me 40 minutes this morning to walk the kids to school as they were looking for bloody pokey things !!! (15 min walk usually)
What is the aim of it, do the same pokey things appear to everyone? So if I caught one then the person next to me couldn't catch that one because I have?
My son tried to explain but I switched off when he started talking about them spawning and reappearing .... Yikes |

Personally,I think there is a conspiracy at work here,,,,some Government dept asked the question 'what percentage of the population are gullible, easily led t**ts?',,,then they decided that this game was easier, cheaper and more accurate than conducting a survey.
'They' are watching you as you play. |

As an avid Pokémon player when it first came out I have no intention of getting involved in this game. I've filled my Pokédex more than once, battled gym leaders and lost beloved Pokémon. I can't go through that again |

I'm playing it because it's fun. Will it still be huge in 6 months? Probably not, but who gives a fuck.
Great seeing loads of people out and the pics/vids of massive groups of people chasing rare Pokemon. Awesome |

Im playing because its my childhood. I collected cards, played the games and watched the cartoon.
Im now an adult who works and has adult hobbies.
If i want to run around the streets looking for pokemon to relive youth or to literally just have fun. Then i will.
Some people can be soo boring. |

It was a part of my childhood
Though - and this is the biggest part of it - I have moderate depression/anxiety issues. If I have something to encourage me to get outside, what's the harm in that? |

I vaguely remember the Pokemon thing from when my kids were little.
I discouraged them from taking part and encouraged them into other pursuits.
I didn't think video games would enhance their childhood.
It seems to have worked for them. |

I'm not playing it.
But it gets people outside. It gets people off there sofa in pursuit of something in the real world, and the game itself could be fun. And they get to catch stuff. Sounds a little bit like dogging |

I enjoy it, but if a laugh. Gaming is a hobby of mine and it's refreshing to play such an interactive game. Actually having to physically do something to progress in the game is excuse the pun, a game changer |

"Children playing it is one thing, but adults...?!"
You obviously didn't see the piece on the one show read about how it helps people with anxiety to get out and about in the telegraph then?
I think adults do it more than kids as they did it when they were kids so it's a natural progression |

I play it because it gives me something to do. I try to walk a minimum of 10k a day and whilst on that walk I now have something to keep me occupied.
Saying that, a 'blast from the past' is always good fun |

I can totally understand that.
My daughter had a serious love for Moshi Monsters when she was younger. I heard everything there was to know about them 24/7. I could have taken it as my Mastermind specialist subject.

I played the red/blue/yellow, gold/silver/crystal, Saphire/Ruby/Emerald, diamond/pearl generations and looked at black/white but couldn't get into it!
If Pokemon go had the 700+ Pokemon which are now available I think it would have flipped however it's fun having the nostalgia of catching the original 150

It's a shame isn't it. I'd bet everyone who looks down on this has a hobby which is similarly silly when viewed in the abstract. Watching men kick a lump of leather towards a net, for example. |

I'm a massive geek, I teach videogame art and work in the videogames industry as a freelance artist.
I play Pokémon go because it gives me a purpose to go for a walk rather than just idly walking and I get to live the things I imagined 18 years ago when Pokémon 1st came out, plus the fact its given me a reason to talk to that really sexy woman sat at the pokestop trying to catch a pikachu
