Initially - self catering, Lake District, cottage in the middle of nowhere, lots of nice walks and build my confidence up for solo holidays before going 'big' with an overseas beach or city adventure |

I did turkey for a week on a b&b basis
I loved it. Made sure I booked some activities and off I went.
The only weird thing for others it seemed, was when I went out for dinner and ate on my own. |

I'd go on my own no problem. I've been away abroad with just myself and my two children and always met lovely people, my children are only young x
I'd love to go to Greek isle on my own self catering x |

I went to Morocco by myself, hotel, city break. Absolutely loved it. Have several holidays booked with friends next year, Sardinia, Malaga, Hawaii and Iceland for the northern lights but want to do another solo holiday to Cyprus. |

"Camping in the uk, maybe the lake district or devon"
I love camping in Devon, have done so for last 5 years.
I am desperate to do Edinburgh on my own as I'm always there to visit family. I've promised to take Throbbing hood777 for a visit.
I would love to go to Budapest after seeing a friends photos - she was there with her partner but he was working in the day so she explored alone |

My family, including my ex husband thought I'd taken leave of my senses going alone.
Only time I'd have liked company was coming back. |

I went to California on my own for a month in 2004, culminating in Burning Man.
My sense of normality had shattered by the time I got home |

I would quite happily travel to a few destinations in Greece where I've been before, on my own. Smaller beach front hotels with pool & a bar, perfect
I'd also do a short stay city break somewhere like Venice or Rome. |

I went trekking in Thailand a few Christmas' ago. It was an organised trip and I'd checked before I booked the dynamic of the group and it was a fairly equal split with 3 couples and 7 singles. I think being christmas and new year if it had been couples it would have been awful! But it was 2 of the nest weeks of my life. I never thought I'd have the courage to do a trip like that alone and as well as being enjoyable I learnt a lot about myself |

I went on holiday myself 3 years ago to Madeira, hotel all inclusive. Been back twice since and going back next year.
Also going to Switzerland/Milan/Turin myself next year for my birthday. Staying with a friend who lives on the Switz/Italian border so don't know if that counts... |

You're Canadian? What on earth are you doing here then, I want to move there.
Ive stayed in vancouver for few nights then headed to Jasper NP but I stayed in Cleareater for few days because I had to wait for my tent spot. After 6 days of exploring jasper I went to Banff for 6 days then headed back. Stayed overnight somewhere midway from Banff to burnaby and went to the airport next day .

I'm looking at my first solo break in 10+ years in Oct/Nov.
I'm staying in the UK, can't be arsed paying through the nose for a passport I may not use again.
So, my plan is to hit some of the T girl clubs in the NW and Midlands.
Anyone recommend a good T girl friendly Hotel or self catering cottage/lodge in those areas.

I've been on a solo 5 years back to Madrid. Completely unplanned. Went with the flow. Best thing ever as you find a lot about yourself.
Stayed in a nice and friendly hostel.
If I was to go again..I would pick..

I went near the end of July so the weather was really hot. For the entire 3 weeks I've been there, the temperature did not drop below 25C degrees. When I was climbing the sulphur skyline trail it was even 38 degrees!
So no I have not seen the castle but the lake and the mansion is absolutely stunning, took like 1000 pics while I was there.
I've bought some maple leaf cookies at the airport, they were lush . I still have some maple syrup as well as maple syrup tea .
Yeah poutine and tim Hortons too |

"West coast of France near La Palmyre in my camper van. Surfing and sun (hopefully) and then chilling on the beach with a beer by my fire. Heaven "
That does sound good! I did a weekend dance workshop in Aix and then down to St Tropez for a few days lazing in a cabin adjacent to the beach at the end of the season, heaven, it was 80 degrees in October!
The following year it was combined skiing and dancing in the Italian Alps, who could resist! |

Try our elderly neighbours house, they still have a video combined dvd player ,think tablets are only used for ailments and there's no fone signal in their back garden so technology isnt an issue... plus they walk to the local shops and thats a bit of a trek at their age...

I stayed in a place called monkey Maya in Cambodia. It's basically a tree house on the beach. Had no heated water. No WiFi. No phone signal. Only had electricity for 6 hours a day. It was pure heaven.
Best of all if u swam after dark then the luminous plankton lights up in the sea around you. It was the most beautiful place I've ever stayed. |

just taken the plunge and booked my first solo holiday, heading to a remote posh hotel in the lake district for a week of peace walking and good food, I can't wait. However I can't decide whether it will be a great adventure or I'll be sick of my own company by the end Either way I need a break and it's hobsons choice!
