Nicotine Replacement

So I gave up smoking about 7 years ago and started using patches and gum. Then I discovered lozenges and for me personally they worked really well and I never smoked another cigarette. The only thing was I then became addicted to the lozenges and was advised by the doctor that they weren't dangerous, just addictive, but better to give up, no harm done if I couldn't. I decided to try and give them up recently (been using them about 7 years). I was convinced it was going to be the same struggle I had with cigarettes and with many attempts. But no, I didn't suffer anxiety or withdrawal affects. I weaned myself off them over the course of the weekend and haven't had any at all for a week now. I am amazed at how easy it was and wonder if the manufacturers and other professionals know that it is easy but prefer to stay quiet for financial gain? Anyway for anyone trying to give up nicotine replacements, it really is easier than you think. Believe me if I can do it anyone can

When I stopped I was using lozenges for ten months. When I stopped taking the lozenges. I never felt so depressed in my life. I started again and was up to 40 a day until Dec 12 2015 when I bought an ecig.

I've been on that since and weaning down that way. I was on 2.4mg now I'm on 1.8mg. I am a nicotine addict I know this as its the first thing I reach for when I go down stairs when I wake up

What gets me is how the government allows kids to pick this evil addiction up while at same time it bans other less harmful drugs

I think it must be different for different people. I was a very heavy smoker, 40 or more a day, and it took me several attempts to get off them. I am so amazed at giving up the lozenges without struggling, particularly because I was such a heavy smoker and then relied so heavily on the lozenges. So glad to finally be nictoine free after almost 10 years of trying!

Tried many times to quit and this is the best effort so far. I already cut down on the strength of the lozenges i'm using - started with 4mg now on 2mg and trying to cut down on how many i use. Currently on about 8-10 per day. I do have an e-cig too which i generally use when cravings are really bad such as first thing in the morning and on my lunch break. I have cut down the strength on that too. On 1.8 at the moment but nearly finished it so moving down again.

I would take your time easing down. I stepped down from 2.4 to 1.8 after 3-4 months. I am still on 1.8 and will look at stepping down in next couple of months
