With films like the ghostbusters reboot (which I saw today and loved) to the release of Pokemon go ... There's seems to be a lot of things being put out there designed to reconnect adults with things they loved as children.
Are you loving these trips down memory lane and embracing the inner child?
Or do you think it's about time to put away childish things?

It could be about feel good connections back to our childhood, or it could be milking a cash cow for profit. I normally sit on the fence in here but on this one I think I know which side I'm leaning towards. |

I agree with the 20/20 thing most the time.
But then if it makes us feel good is it wrong? I still watch the odd power rangers episode. I know it's crap but I love it.
I can't wait for the movie reboot.
Basically I'm continuing to live my childhood and loving every second |

Movie businesses like safe investments, even though churning out trash shouldn't be viewed as safe.
Nostalgia may be how they tug at your emotions but I'll see stuff and buy based on more than that.
Sure, many things from the past were great and are often better treated as quaint period pieces. I'll have moved on. Try watching preschool TV from your childhood - it's not that fulfilling to you when you've developed yourself somewhat.
Hollywood stuff can be OK but it's often dumbed down - they try less with the easy bets to add intelligence.
I love some old music and films but they're samples only - I'm not recreating my past.
I would have loved some experiences from the 1960s, the clothes, hair - which I can kind of imitate but the cultural experience would have been great. It wasn't just the joyous swinging sixties though - I'd have faced some unpleasant aspects of life then.
I've no clue why people are fixated on this new game. I won't see the film, thanks.
Though my upcoming long haul flights could do with some picks. |
