Prosthetic Testicle, yes or no?

Ok so to cut a long story short I have been diagnosed with suspected testicular cancer and they are going to operate and remove the testicle.
I have to decide before the op if I want a prosthetic replacement or not and really not sure to say yes or no.
It seems pretty useless having a fake testicle but would only having one one make me lopsided and strange?
Not sure what to do..... |

I'm so sorry for your diagnosis.
I think this is a personal choice. I wouldn't care if a guy had one testicle. Others might, I don't know. But I think you should decide based on what would make you the most comfortable.
Are there any dangers with having one put in? Do you think you might decide you do want one later if you say no now? It's probably better to get it done now rather than do it later if you change your mind.
Weigh all the options that your doctor gave you. Good luck with your operation. |

Sorry to hear that
At the end of the day only you can make that choice. If you'd feel more comfortable with a prosthetic as to look 'normal' then there's nothing wrong with that. But it's also fine if you don't... It could be a conversation starter.
My gran has a prosthetic breast after they removed hers because of cancer. But another lady I know had both her breasts removed and didn't want prosthetics because "I'm not planning on breast feeding any more children, and my husband passed away so he doesn't need them as a play thing."
I don't know anyone with a prosthetic testicle though..
It's up to you and nobody can judge you on your decision. |

"It sounds as if it'd only been done for cosmetic reasons really.
Would you have the option of having one popped in at a later date?"
Yeah purely cosmetic and as for later I hate hospitals so wouldnt ever want an unnecessary operation

So you'd be having it put in when you have your testicle removed in the same operation?

If your getting one get one with a bell or a chime inside.
Best of luck with your operation and treatment.

That would be cool.
OP if someone was bothered about how many testicles you have I think they aren't worth meeting. Good luck. xx |

I've played with guys with only one and with a guy who had a prosthetic one.
A couple of times I didn't even notice they only had one till later (I got distracted by other things... ).
As for the prothesis, I didn't know till he told me (the scrotum seems to heal quite well with no obvious scarring) and had to have a really good intensive feel to establish the difference (slightly different sized and a little firmer).
So, only having one is not immediately obvious but the prostheses are pretty good. Probably not a lot of help but as someone who sees a fair amount of scrotums up close neither option is at all off putting.
I'm sure very few women (or men if that's your thing) would be bothered. So take a bit of time to decide if you would be and go with that. |

I have an older mate who has went through what you are about to go through, he also went for a replacement and has no problems with prosthetic.
The main problem he did have was low testosterone levels and it knocked him for 6, he has now been prescribed a testosterone replacement gel which he rubs into his shoulders and his recover was amazing.
I sometimes train with him and he is benching 100kg with ease and putting on a hell of a muscle which is pretty good for a guy of late 50's.
.
wishing you good luck with your op |

I'm not being funny here, but they've been doing it for dogs for years, and they're called neuticles
Literally the dogs bollocks
Personally I would have one, or two, for my own self confidence, if nothing else
Good luck op, with your surgery and recovery |

I know a guy that had one
It starts off square then moulds itself to your body. It felt a bit harder than the other one but apart from that there wasn't much difference and he never had any problems with it. Congratulations on catching it in time and good luck xxx |

My son had testicular cancer in 2014 and had a testicle removed and chemo. I don't think he had the prosthetic XXX |

It wouldn't bother me if someone had one testicle. Do what feels best for you, you can decide right up to you sign the consents I'm guessing, so don't put yourself under pressure to decide.
I hope it all goes well and wish you good health. |

Seriously though. ..I don't think a prosthetic is necessary.
Your body will have enough to cope with during treatment without giving it a foreign body.
However, at the end of the day it's got to be up to you.
All the best and hope that you are soon back to health.

It's the pillar not the stones that's important but just for the purpose of aesthetics and it looking the same as it was I'd have the prosthetic. Totally your call though. If I was faced with a guy that only had one ball and he told me what happened to the other one I'd fuss it and kiss it and give it extra attention.
Good luck with everything and speedy recovery. |

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis but well done on finding it and getting it sorted.
Personally I would say don't bother with the prosthetic unless it's for your own confidence, no partner worth their salt is going to care and it's just something extra your body has to deal with when all you need to be concentrating on is healing yourself.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
Healing thoughts to you xx
