Did anyone in Manchester see this go overhead just before noon?

A military Helicopter. (Two rotary blades, somebody can name it for me). I read about the training excercise in Rochdale that was scheduled, but they never gave the date. This must have been it.

Terrible scary times we live in.

Why is it scary to see a single military helicopter? Do you think the Army are invading Manchester?

Have you seen the US special forces video of the Chinook hovering above water with the ramp down, then slowly lowering itself into the water, and deliberately flooding so that a RHIB speed boat can drive right in? Very cool

Also airshows on this time of year, so plenty of military stuff moving around between RIAT and Farnborough...

LOL

There was this *one time* I'd been banging this guy for like 19hrs or something stupid and it was the following late morning and I looked out of the window of the London flat I was in to see two Chinooks, two Apache helicopters, one Sea King helicopter, one Hercules bomber and two Tornados fly overhead in formation. All painted black.

I was like WTF?!!

Has WWIII started or is the US president dropped in for tea?

Nah, it was the flyby to celebrate the end of hostilities in Afghanistan.

Serious hardware up there.

They fly over and around London all the time. At least one goes near my house everyday, no biggie.

I am only a couple of miles from Woolwich Artillary, its when that gets busy you need to worry.

You need to read the business section of the papers every once in a while.

The UK has sealed lots of international export deals on the back of the airshow for various aeronautical products. One of which is a revoloutinary rocket engine invested in by the goverment, George Osborne ratified it, when the company couldn't get private funding. Look it up, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Not being funny or owt but world war 3 is about to start. With the events in Turkey I suggest you keep an eye on Syria Iraq and Iran over next few days / weeks. NATO keep agitating Putin/Russia. If it ain't a cold war it will be a tangible one.
