It will eventually go away but can take years. Physio really does help in this case and it's all about stretching the tendons underneath your foot as often and as long as you can.

Weirdly , the heels I now have to wear to work are easier to wear than my flip flops !
May look into these |

Yes I've had one, blooming nightmare. Those sporty slider flip flop things help around the house - takes the pressure off, and then a scholl insert in shoes.
Always worst in morning (so I put the sliders on) and after I've walked the dog.
Stretching the foot out helps. You can splints to wear in bed that help too, although obviously not very glam. |

I had a spur. It took several steroid I think or Cortisol injections, to break it down. Was really really painful.
I can run now, but make sure I have a gait analysis done before I buy trainers, and I wear decent shoes and boots with support built in. My Timberland boots are my comfiest pair now. |

My granddad had one - ended up having horrible injections ... still no joy just an extra pain.
The only thing that helped was acupuncture. It didn't cure it but eased the pain.
Eventually it just sorted itself out. |

Ordinary flip flops will hurt more. The heel needs to be lifte.
I wear FitFlops as they are not flat to the floor.

I've just bought some kt tape for a calf tear but a friend has had great results using it for plantar whatsit. Might be worth trying until you can get it checked out. They sell it in boots.

It's the right thing to go to the Doctor, as they have expert resources to hand and will want to help, if they can. If it is a heel spur, then it most will likely not need surgery.
Have you been using antiflammatory or other pain killers? |

No , I haven't actually . Because it feels so bruised and its there all the time I haven't thought of pain killers . This may sound crazy ! But I think because like I take pain killers for head aches etc it seems strange for foot pain .
But think il try and also some gel for my foot to see .
I'm stretching and massaging as much as I can |

I have just got rid of Plantar fasciitis after 7 months of pain pain pain.
I had the inserts in the shoes.
From the GP got anti inflammatory and then topped up with painkillers.
Did the exercises found on the internet.
I'm now having to, more or less, learn to walk normal again as I had limped for the 7 months.
I feel for you. |

Does it feel like the bottom of your foot is bruised ? And hurts when you stretch it out , and when you get cramp and the bone / ligament bit sticks out , that hurts too , like cramp |

All the nerve endings on top and under the foot really hurt, from when you cough or sneeze even more so. Even pressure from walking hurts. Forget running or even walking fast. Felt like a huge bruise all underneath the foot. No swelling or anything sticking out.
I show dogs as a hobby and for the last few months I've had the foot strapped and used anti inflammatory gel plus pain killers to get me through running with then.

Know how you feel regarding needing feet and dog showing, depending on the breed and huge rings at times, painful feet are not ideal |

Do the stretches for plantar fasciitis..and keep your feet warm. Stretch before getting out of bed if poss. ..point your toes up towards your shins...sleeping with your toes pointed can tighten the tendon..you can get splints to keep your feet at right angles while asleep.
An xray might show a heel spur.
Best of luck. X |

I tore my right achilles tendon playing squash. The pressure I put on my left foot caused plantar fascistis. The pain was excruciating; like walking on marbles. I had a special insole made for my shoe and wore splints at night to stretch the achilles . Also, I found regular ice packs on the foot to reduce inflammation and calf and hamstring massage helped. Flat shoes an absolute no no, always wear a raised heel. It took a year, then got better. It can be hereditary btw. Lots of stretches help also. Feel for you... it's bloody painful and annoying. Avoid Steroid injection as can rupture the achilles . Good Luck x |

I have plantar fasciitis. It comes & goes. I've had Physio & acupuncture & still do my exercises (can be found on CTC physiotherapy website I think) Keep a 500ml drinks bottle filled with water in fridge & roll under foot.
I have Langer orthotics which are £50 a pair but made a huge difference.

This may not be relevant but years ago I had unexplained severe pain in my feet.
A friend said it would be hard skin. I laughed and didn't believe her.
Then I tried it, didn't realise I even had some hard skin. But that turned out to be the cause of the pain. |

I don't know how many of you cope with your feet issues.
Op - pain relievers work in different ways. Specifically anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen and aspirin work differently to paracetamol. You could take both, possibly gaining greater relief. The anti-inflamms will possibly reduce swelling, if it exists.
Your doc will give you some good advice. Exercises, footwear care etc should help. |

I had plantar fasciitis a few years back. It took two years to fully go. One of the best things for me was strapping it up with tape. There's a certain way of doing it, it kind of criss crosses on the bottom of your foot and then goes across three times. There's videos of the technique. I got through masses of tape but it was worth it for the relief. Not very cool, but I wore crocs around the house and they took the pressure off a bit too.
